Guest guest Posted July 28, 2001 Report Share Posted July 28, 2001 Missile fired at Air-India aircraft An Air-India pilot has reported that a missile was fired at his aircraft in Somalian air space when he was flying from Nairobi to Bombay. According to a report filed by Airbus A310 Capt C M Edekar, the missile was fired in the vicinity of the Somalian capital of Mogadishu on the night of July 23, while the aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 33,000 feet. General of Civil Aviation H S Khola, when contacted on Saturday, said, "We will take up this issue with our counterpart in Somalia." According to Air-India officials, the commander in his report said, "We switched off the aircraft lights and accelerated to get out as fast as possible." A Kenyan Airlines flight from Bombay to Nairobi, which was passing through the territory at the same time, also confirmed the explosion, the commander added in the report.
