Due to heavy support for India in US Congress, Rep. Dan Burton Did not submit hi

Last week I had issued an action alert against the possibility of Rep

Dan Burton introducing in the House of Representatives his usual

annual amendment to the Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill that

would cut off all foreign aid to India.

 

As it turned out, for the first time in a decade or so, Rep Burton

did NOT introduce his infamous "Burton Amendment" . A friend

commented: I guess he's finally "seen the light."

 

Let's hope so.

 

The fact remains that the overwhelming support for India on Capitol

Hill built up in recent years through the sustained efforts of many,

caused Rep Burton to chicken out.
