Some three weeks or so prior to the WTC bombing, I experienced a horrible dream state. While I viewed a massive tall building on explosive fire I could see that people literally had to jump to their death to avoid searing incineration. The intense heat, half-gutted building, dizzying heights, the fire, the thick billowing smoke and black soot . . . the intense impossibility of the physical surroundings are difficult to adequately describe. The raw emotions of those stuck in that building were extreme panic, pain and desperation. While in that hellish condition, there was no scope to experience or feel anything other than this punishing reality which had literally crashed into the collective psyche of those souls in the most horrible and intrusive way. The painful emotional burden and shock of this hellish dreamlike experience forced me to abruptly wake up sobbing amid deep and overwhelming sadness. The sounds I made then awoke my wife to whom I eventually described what I had just experienced. It was all so very sad, so deeply sad to see and to feel the blind desperation of what those souls saw and felt. In the vivid reality of that desperate panic there was no room for making choices other than to face an unwanted, violent and intrusive death. I cannot begin to adequately communicate the extent and depth of sadness, panic and pain felt by those who experienced that explosive hell. Everyone there was literally locked into an exceedingly painful state of consciousness that only the words of a poet, perhaps, could accurately convey. This dream, this searing psychic impression, did not enter my consciousness when I first viewed the shocking WTC video on TV. Instead I became almost immediately mesmerized by the TV footage being replayed of the fire and collapsing buildings, and especially of those who were literally hanging out of windows and those who jumped rather than face the intense and unyielding fire and heat. I viewed that TV footage over and over many times. My attention and focus was finally interrupted when my wife reminded me of the dream I had had, which memory, of course, then immediately flooded and overpowered my consciousness. I then realized why the TV footage was being pulled into my psyche as a coin would be pulled to a magnet . . . the WTC attack and my earlier dream had been one and the same. For those who experienced that horror on September 11th, death was vivid, painful and desperate. There was no choice, no hope, no beauty. All plans were dashed. All was lost. Yet we know there is another way, another experience possible. sadhibhutadhidaivam mam sadhiyajnam ca ye viduh prayana-kale 'pi ca mam te vidur yukta-cetasah "Those who know Me as the Supreme Lord, as the governing principle of the material manifestation, who knows Me as the one underlying all the demigods and as the one sustaining all sacrifices, can, with steadfast mind, understand and know Me even at the time of death." -- Bhagavad-Gita As It Is 7.30 As the messengers of karmic change have now come to this planet in the form of a violent cyclone of action and reaction, each of us must carefully nurture the seed of devotion which Srila Prabhupada lovingly planted in each of us if we are to play the role Srila Prabhupada and his Hero has in mind for each of us in the coming times. It is that collective light, of which we are all part, which can help clear a path for the many lost and desperate souls who will need direction and comfort in the near future. With great enthusiasm and light, we must all personally take the wake-up call of these tragic world events to heart and truly aspire to be Krishna conscious and to act in that way. Each of us must be diligent to eagerly share the spiritual treasure of Krishna Consciousness with those who remain fearfully caught up in the incredible spiral of confusing world events which threatens to destroy life on this planet for many generations to come. In this way Srila Prabhupada's plan is in our collective hands and hearts; only when all of us cooperatively preach the Caitanya cult will the true legacy of Srila Prabhupada's gift to the world in the form of his vani, or instructional plans for a God-centered world society, be realized. I am personally grateful, and I want to say, to Srila Prabhupada for sharing with us, and with the world, his vapu and his vani. Guest guest Posted September 30, 2001 Report Share Posted September 30, 2001 yes, i was moved by Gupta Prabhu's Dream vision too; esp. because what happend in NYC is so very close to where Srila Prabhupada performed so many 'miracles'. [of turning hippies into happies] Was it not Christ who stated that the places where he performed his miracles would suffer more in the end than Sodom and Gomorrah? [i believe this indication is shared in the Book of Mathew]. Defamation of Srila Prabhupada got seriously underway [in this town of NY where HDG was so compassionate] on Oct. 9, 1998, nearly 3 years ago, when the NYTs attempted to re-write history by attributing blame for crimes against children in the HKM on SP's teachings and "the early structure of" His Society. [see 'Iskcon Jouranl' article of EBUrke Rochford and Oct 9, 1998 article quoting his Ravinedra/aSatsvarupa/Tamal-engineered lies] If people do not repent this gross injustice, what we have 'seen' - in the WTC attack - is only a sign of future calamities to visit that city and this planet, since Prabhupada's mercy was ubiquitously distributed on this globe. [and the public attacks on His Divine Grace have spread just as ubiquitously throughout the world.] Only those who imitated Srila Prabhupada in 'iskcon' can now call off hell's fury, by confessing to the world their crimes and their lie that Prabhupada endorsed or supported their willful, intentional and premeditative deviations. but that will never happen; therefore, the MOST CONDEMNED will be these same individuals who are stopping up the Real Movement of KC by allowing Srila Prabhupada's Name to be dragged into the sewer of their aparadha. And, thank God for true disciples lke Gupta Prabhu, who are compassionately trying to restore order and defend nicely Srila Prabhupada against all odds. His dream state was accurate; sort of a 'Vision of the Universal Form,' enuf to make a soft-hearted devotee cry and pray to the Lord for mercy. Only such child-like devotees as he can help the world in this difficult and sad moment.
