Prabhupada,"Are you all alright?"

Dear Gupta and devotees,

PAMRO AGTSP!

 

Thank you for your heart felt letter. It is a wake up call to all of us

to take life more seriously. It's amazing that you had that premonition. If

you have anymore please keep me/us informed. I hope it's a good one next time!

 

I also had a near death experience right in front of Srila Prabhupada on

his rooftop in Vrindavan in June 1977. I had been taking his recording

equipment downstairs as usual. I grabbed an extension cord that was still

plugged in and it had a bare spot which gave me the shock of me life. 220 +/-

volts! I took 3 steps and melted like a candle and everything went black.

Srila Prabhupada was in his rocking chair while this happened. He could not

walk at this point due to his illness. He had come to Vrindavan to leave his

body, as he said. He called Upendra Prabhu from inside and yelled "save him"

Upendra pulled the plug as I rolled around in the wires.I really thought I

left my body. The devotees said I was unconscious for 2 hours. Pramana Swami

pounded my heart back into service. When I started to see faces above me I

did not know who they were or even who I was. Then after about 20 minutes I

got my memory back. The devotees said that Srila Prabhupada wanted to see me

in his room. I felt so embarrassed as I entered his room and offered my

obeisances. Then Srila Prabhupada looked at me very compassionately and said

"Are you all alright?" I answered that I was and he said, "So you should take

this as a good lesson that death can come at any time and you should always

be ready."

I thanked Srila Prabhupada for his kindness and mercy. I realized that he is

my real father and ever well-wisher. I am still not ready for death though.

Sometimes I wished I would of died then; being in the service of Srila

Prabhupada in Vrindavan! I was a strict brahmachary even before I joined with

Visnujana Swami in 1974.I could of avoided the politics that happened after

Srila Prabhupada's physical departure and hopefully been with Visnujana and

Jayananda. I think Krsna and Srila Prabhupada saved me to help his mission.

To keep Srila Prabhupada's last instruction's for ISKCON alive despite the

politics and fight for power that is still hurting the movement today.

So I am living each day like it could be my last.
