Guest guest
Lord Ram a prisoner of war in Ayodhya: Singhal By Vinay Krishna Rastogi in Lucknow VHP chief Ashok Singhal on Thursday justified VHP activists' entry into the sanctum sanctorum (Garbh Griha) in Ayodhya and said the act was a clear warning to the government. Excerpts from an exclusive interview with Sify.com Why have you violated the order of the Supreme Court which prohibits entry of any person except the Pujari into the Garba Griha? My colleague Sirish Chandra Dixit and others have not violated any law. Dixitji is a former Director General of Police and he understands the law well. It's matter of shame that the devotees are treated like terrorists. Their entire belongings, including pens, are taken off. They have to cover a distance of 3 km to reach the temple and are stopped 55 feet from the Garba Griha. Hasn't the court definitely prohibited entry? We must separate the temple construction issue from the worship issue. The court order on status quo is only about construction. There has been no ruling which prevents devotees from performing the Puja. In fact, our entry into the Garbh Griha is also a warning to the government Even a High Court ruling says that the government should ensure proper facilities for worship. It was on this issue that President of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust Mahant Ramchandra Das Paramhans went on a fast unto death But various Muslim organisations are demanding your arrest for having violated the law. Let them arrest me. I have always found the security at the temple humiliating for Hindus. The devotees are not allowed even to carry a pen. Lord Ram has been kept as a prisoner of war. The last time I had a darshan was in 1992. Now, I again had darshan after nine years. Are you angry with the government? Yes. The VHP is angry both with the union government and the Rajnath Singh Government in the state for stating that the temple issue is not on their agenda. Even the upkeep of the temple is poor Why do you say so? The greenery inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex has vanished. The place is not being cleaned properly and the building is crumbling.
