Guest guest
Vedic City Council Adopts Total Natural Law, Sanskrit *************************** The Fairfield Ledger, November 14, 2001 VEDIC CITY, Iowa - Officials of the state's newest city adopted the Constitution of the Universe, known as Total Natural Law, to be the guiding light of the city as the council met for the first time. The council also on Tuesday declared the ancient Sanskrit to be the city's ideal language. "Veda" is the Sanskrit word meaning knowledge. "The Constitution of the Universe is the fundamental level of Natural Law identified both by modern science and by ancient Vedic wisdom," Mayor Bob Wynne said. Wynne and five council members were sworn into office before holding the first council meeting Tuesday. All six were instrumental in creating the glittering city on what once was 654 acres of farmland two miles north of Fairfield. Vedic City recently became Iowa's 950th city and the new one since 1982. Vedic City's founders are followers of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, leader of the Transcendental Meditation movement and founder of the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield. The first resolution passed by the new city government declared that "on the basis of a population that is increasingly aligned with Natural Law, the government of the city will enjoy effortless, successful administration like Nature administers all the diversity of creation." Wynne said Sanskrit is enriching and helps people tune into the Constitution of the Universe that is Natural Law. The council also voted to expand the name of the city from Vedic City to Maharishi Vedic City. The design of the city is based on architectural principles of Maharishi Sthapatya-Veda, which the Maharishi says he uncovered in ancient transcripts in India. Believers say the buildings, because of their design, alignment and use of natural materials, promote health, clear thinking, happiness and harmony. Developers said that Vedic City is dedicated to creating maximum health and well-being for its citizens and visitors. They said Vedic City is the first city in the modern world to be based entirely on the ancient principles of Maharishi Sthapatya-Veda design and other aspects of Maharishi Vedic Science. Construction in the city must conform to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design - an architectural system the Maharishi says he uncovered in ancient transcripts in India. Believers say Sthapatya Veda buildings, because of their design, alignment and use of natural materials, promote health, clear thinking, happiness and harmony. The boundary of the city encompasses about 125 residents, the Raj Hotel and Resort, the Rukmapura Park Hotel, an outdoor Vedic observatory and several businesses. -- -- -- For a scientifically validated means of eliminating terrorism without military action, see: http://www.worldpeaceendowment.org/ [includes peer reviewed research published in respected publications such as the Journal of Conflict Resolution] "In which camp would you have found yourself if you had lived in the time of Galileo when he proposed support for the radical notion that the earth revolved around the sun instead of the other way around? Think about it. Would you have rationally examined the evidence presented, or would you have just rejected the radical new paradigm?" ____________________________ Send a friend your Buddy Card and stay in contact always with Excite Messenger http://messenger.excite.com
