Guest guest
'Oppostion leaders are like Goebbels' "Nobody can be Goebbels and nobody can be Taliban in this country,India. The country has a cultural history of thousands of years and such Goebbels and such Talibans would come and go, but the country will go on its own path," he said. New Delhi, Nov 26 Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan on Monday the equated Opposition leaders to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, prompting former prime minister Chandrashekhar to observe that it was as objectionable as the use of 'Talibanisation' by the Opposition. Replying to a discussion during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha on the controversy, Mahajan said he challenged the opposition leaders on fact, but they could not give a single line substantiating that the Government was re-writing history. "Now, this is like Goebbels. Without giving even one proof of changing the history, they are making allegations," he said. No sooner than the minister made the comment, Chandrashekhar (SJP) took exception to it and said the word 'Goebbels' was as objectionable as the word 'Talibanisation' used by the Opposition. The Opposition might not be behaving in a decent matter. "But this word should not come from the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. It does not create a congenial atmosphere in this House because they are not there (in the House, having staged a walk-out) and he is saying that they are behaving like Goebbels," Chandrashekhar said. "Nobody can be Goebbels and nobody can be Taliban in this country. The country has a cultural history of thousands of years and such Goebbels and such Talibans would come and go, but the country will go on its own path," he said.
