Guest guest
VHP warns political parties on Ram Janambhoomi issue PTI Kolkata, November 26 ---- ---------- The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday warned political parties who opposed its Ram Janambhoomi movement to be ready to 'face the consequences.' "We ask all political parties to clarify their stand on the issue, considering the sentiments of the Hindus. If they do not, then they should be ready to face the consequences," VHP international general secretary Pravin Togadiya told reporters while announcing the second phase of the movement. Stating that the VHP would contact the Members of Parliament of various political parties to support the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, he said he was hopeful that the movement would be supported by 'many' political parties. While not clarifying the kind of retribution likely to be faced by the opponents of the Ram Janambhoomi movement, he said, "the political parties, which earlier opposed the movement, were rejected by the people." Asked whether his organisation was satisfied with the way the BJP-led Union government was responding to the Ram Janambhoomi issue, he said, "This government is not doing as was expected, but it has not done anything against the Hindus." Stating that the second phase of the Ram Janambhoomi movement began from Monday, Tagadiya said this would culminate in the Ram Mahayajna in all the Siddhakshetras after the mantra had been chanted for 13 crore times. On January 27, 5,000 sadhus and sants would march to Delhi to demand land from the Centre for for Ram Temple construction and on February 17, nearly five crore people would assemble at Ayodhya, he said.
