Guest guest
WASHINGTON –– The death of former Beatle George Harrison saddened President Bush, a baby boomer who considered the British band "one of the greatest groups of any time in music." When Bush learned that Harrison, 58, had died Thursday of cancer, he noted sadly that now only two Beatles survive, said White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. Fleischer said the 55-year-old president "considers the Beatles to be one of the greatest groups of any time in music." "The Beatles are a big part of the life of all baby boomers, and he's very saddened by the death of George Harrison," Fleischer said. Ari Fleisher, a White House spokesman, said that President Bush had been deeply affected by the news. Dr Gil Lederman, a New York hospital doctor who treated him in the final stages, said he had been playing the guitar only two weeks ago. James Brown, the "Godfather of Soul", said: "George Harrison was one of the world's few good men. "I will, and the world will, miss him. He was truly loved."
