Guest guest
Dear Friends, I, along with a contingent of Foreign friends of the RSS, had the honor of being present at this historic event. There were over 60,000 participants in an impressive display of discipline and culture. The event was begun with invocations to Sri Ramachandra. It was an auspicious and powerful display of living Vedic culture. Vrin Parker "...he said not only astrology but all traditional knowledge including Vedic sciences and darshanas should be introduced in education system." Pakistan should be taught a lesson, says Sudarshan RSS calls for developing long range missiles DH News Service BANGALORE, Jan 27 RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangha) chief K S Sudarshan today called for strengthening and modernising the country's armed forces to successfully tackle the security threat in the region. "There are no permanent enemies, but permanent interests in the region. If India has to protect its interests and protect itself, it has to strengthen and modernise its weaponry," Mr Sudarshan said while delivering the valedictory address at the three-day "Samarasatha Sangama" of the RSS held on the outskirts of the city. Excessive stress to non-violence has come in the way of strengthening the armed forces, he said and added that the country had lost some of the wars in the beginning due to lack of modern weapons. Terming "non-violence" as a negative concept, he said the non-violence principle would be appropriate only when the country achieves total strength. Terming Pakistan, Bangladesh and China as India's enemies in the region, he said war may take place any time as there was a massing of troops on both sides of the Indo-Pak border. "Pakistan has to be taught a lesson," but it is left to the prime minister to decide about it depending upon the international developments, he said. Meanwhile, he also stated that people of both India and Pakistan were for peace. But the Pakistan rulers were not responding to peace initiatives of their Indian counterparts, he said while pointing out that Pakistan was involved in Kargil intrusion when India extended an olive branch with the Lahore bus trip. Expressing confidence that India can take on Pakistan without difficulty, he said China had strengthened its security. That is why no country was messing around with it. India should also strengthen its security, he said and stressed the need for developing missiles with a long range of 10,000 to 12,000 km to reach interior areas of China in case of need. Mr Sudarshan also regretted that the country had adopted the Western, model of education, political system and economy instead of having its own to suit its needs. "We are still continuing the political and education system of British which does not help tackle our problems", he said. Defending the constitutional review exercise, he said even Dr B R Ambedkar, who is the main architect of the Constitution, had made it clear that it is not a rigid document which cannot be changed. Describing India as the soul of the world, he claimed RSS has been doing the work of awakening this soul from deep slumber. Speaking on the occasion, Technocrat Vijay Bhatkar stressed the need for integration of Indian ancient knowledge system in the education system for the development of the country. Referring to the controversy over Human Resources Minister Murli Manohar Joshi's statement that astrology should be introduced as an academic subject, he said not only astrology but all traditional knowledge including Vedic sciences and darshanas should be introduced in education system. ---- http://www.ofbjp.org
