Gandhiji had a lot of self-rightousness, but his humility made him find common ground with the unrighteous. A lot of people and some english-language newspapers (chiefly the Indian Express) are self-righteously bashing Hindus. Because, a section of Hindus have gone berserk in Gujarat. This empty self-righteousness is making me sick. This is just a show. Remember the Hindu-Muslim riots 50 years ago? Gandhiji did not go into a self-righteous condemnation of either side. He just fasted. He could identify with the pain of the two sides. These critics do not want this solved. They just want to say that they are better than the rioters.
