Guest guest
50-kg lock for Lord Jagannath temple By Bibhuti Mishra in Bhubaneswar The 100-year-old lock-making company Trusty of Kolkatta has now made one the world's biggest padlocks for the Jagannath temple at Puri in Orissa. The padlock weighs 50 kg; It stands 2 ft tall and is one feet broad! It has three 14.5 inch keys made of brass and gunmetal. Trusty had made the World's biggest padlock in 1961 when it made a 80kg lock for a pavillion gate at the World Trade Fair in Delhi. This 50kg lock is now made for the one tonne iron gate at Jagannath temple, where the offerings made by the devotees are kept. The lock-maker has not charged the Jagannath temple administration. J P Singh owner of Trusty has reportedly said that since theirs is a Vishnavite family, they have taken the order for the lock as Lord Jagannth's wish.
