Second Edition Now Available

Bhagavad-gita: Its Feeling and Philosophy

by Swami B.V. Tripurari

The eagerly-awaited reprint of Swami B.V. Tripurari's translation and commentary

of the Bhagavad-Gita is now available.

Dubbed by Yoga Journal "the most arresting new Gita," the book is creating a

renaissance in the study of the immortal Bhagavad-Gita among devotees of the

Gaudiya tradition, who are re-examining the depth of Krsna's sweet song. The

book has also been greatly appreciated for its ability to bring forward the

charm and mystic insight of the Gaudiya Vaisnava tradition in a way that is

endearing not only to those unaffiliated with any particular religious sect,

but also to those firmly committed to sects other than the Gaudiya tradition.

Several Gaudiya Vaisnava gurus are conducting classes from the book already,

and many devotees are reading it side by side with Srila Prabhupada's

Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, finding the two to be very complimentary. Our hope is

that this edition will also enrich the life of the practitioner while pleasing

Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who said:

You ask one question about the nature of books I want you to write as my

disciples; on this point, Krsna Consciousness is not limited. Persons like

all of the Gosvamis wrote so many books, Visvanatha Cakravarti, and all the

acaryas wrote books, and still I am writing books. Similarly, also my

disciples will write. (letter to Satsvarupa dasa Gosvami, 28 Feb., 1972)

This hardbound edition is 615 pages, with a specially commissioned illustration

by the renowned Mahaveer Swami, and three bound, cloth bookmarks. Copies are

available from the Audarya Bookstore at http://www.swami.org/merchant.mv for

$19.95 (SRP $29.95). Alternatively, email us with your billing information at

orders (AT) swami (DOT) org.

Critical acclaim for this new edition:-

"This book's focus and unique organization promise an in-depth journey into the

pivotal Hindu text and offer the interested reader a new perspective."

- Bloomsbury Review

". . . This Gita is also unique in that its verse-by-verse commentary draws on

other Hindu literature to more fully explore the characters of Arjuna and

Krishna, as well as the relationship between them. This determination to study

the Gita in the larger context of Hindu devotional writing distinguishes Swami

Tripurari's edition from the rest of the pack.²

- Publishers Weekly

"Swami B.V. Tripurari has done us a service with this volume, obviously his

labor of love. Very, very well done, lovely to look at and to hold, and a

blessing to read.²

- Amazon.com

"I want to thank you for your edition of the Bhagavad Gita, which has been a

superb guide and companion. I found in every case your translations and

commentaries were clear and illuminating, and along the way cleared up many of

the points that had long puzzled me in Bhagavad Gita As It Is, in a way that

was respectful to our Gurudeva and at the same time added to what he had

written. In future I will always recommend your edition. I think it should

become a standard companion to Srila Prabhupada's.²

- Ranchor Prime

"I've been reading bits of your Bhagavad Gita as I work on an electronic

Sanskrit edition of the Gita. It's really quite marvellous. You did a lot of

research and you did a great job of putting it all together. On the whole it is

truly a unique and significant contribution to Bhagavad-gita studies.²

- Jan Brzezinski PhD.

"I would like to sincerely commend and thank you for your work on Bhagavad-gita.

No doubt Srila Prabhupada is smiling upon your endeavor. You have so masterfully

highlighted Lord Krsna's 18th chapter finale as the incredible crescendo it

really is. This is definitely your most valuable publication to date. To say

the least, I am notably impressed with the work and I am thoroughly relishing

it."

- Ganapati Swami

"I have been relishing your 'Bhagavad-gita: Its Feeling and Philosophy.' Thank you!²

- Giriraj Swami
