Statement by Sarsanghchalak Sri K.S. Sudarshan

on the Islamic terrorist attack in Jammu

 

The RSS expresses deep shock and anguish over the death of over 25

innocent Hindus and injuries to scores of others in the dastardly

attack on a Hindu temple near Jammu by the Islamic terrorists on

Saturday, the 13th July 2002. This is the third major incident in

the Jammu region in the last few months. Earlier the famous

Raghunath temple in the Jammu city was made the target followed by

an attack on the army camp in Kaluchak.

 

The latest attack reinforces our suspicion that there is a deep-

rooted conspiracy behind these incidents. The objective of the

Islamic terrorists appears to be to repeat what they did to the

Valley Hindus in the early 90s. Their intention is to intimidate the

Hindus of the Jammu region also and create a situation where they

will be forced to migrate to safer places leaving Jammu. Thus these

terrorists and their masters want to fulfill their dream of complete

Islamisation of the J&K.

 

The RSS would like to express its strongest exasperation over the

repeated failure of the Governments, both at the Centre as well as

the State, in protecting the lives of the people of Jammu. It is an

incontrovertible fact that the people of Jammu are being made the

targets of attacks because they are patriots. Failure to protect

them tantamounts to encouraging anti-national terrorists only.

 

We call upon the Government of India to act immediately to ensure

that the people of Jammu get proper protection and such incidents

are not repeated again. It appears that the people of the region

have no faith in the State police and State machinery. In such a

situation it is the bounden duty of the Central Government to take

all those steps, which are necessary for the protection of the

patriotic citizens of the country.

 

It is a well-known fact that these Islamic terrorists have their

bases both with in and across the borders. We have had enough of

their menace in the last 10 months, starting from the attack on the

Indian Parliament in December last year. Nation expects the rulers

to act firmly at least now and teach a strong lesson to the enemy

who has been bleeding this country through the acts of terrorism and

insurgency with impunity.

 

We convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved.

We call upon the citizens of the Jammu region to be alert to the

machinations of the Islamic terrorists. We also want to assure them

that the entire nation is behind them in their struggle against

those forces and together we shall never allow the designs of the

Islamic terrorists to succeed.

 

We also call upon the countrymen to understand the grave situation

that is prevailing in the Jammu region and stand by those people in

their struggle for survival with honour and dignity.
