Shoot out at Swaminarayan temple in Ahmedabad, 44 killed many more injured.

Mumbai's Times of India headline 'Gunmen Storm Gujarat Temple - 44 killed". A

few immediate thoughts -

 

1. Note that these killings have taken place a few days before the Supreme Court

is to hear the case on delay in elections & imposition of President's rule in

Gujarat. So the intent is to invite a Hindu backlash, more riots, chaos

afterwhich the Congress - Secularists would press for President's Rule citing

break down in law & order. Say 6 months of Rule might make people forget Modi

and wipe out the gains that are apparent during the Gaurav Yatra. Godhra or

this massacre the two key beneficiaries are the Congress Party & Pakisthan.

Will the Americans and Indian media urge Hindus to excercise restraint? For how

long must Hindus carry on the responsibility of living with Pseudo-Secularism?

The Swaminarayan Temple is in Advani's constitutency! Does that imply

something? The Pakis hate him!

 

2. What must the Hindus do? They must not get emotional & react because that

would mean playing into the enemies hands. In Sept 1947 when the Sikhs

intended to attack Muslim convoys on their way to Pakistan, Sardar Patel said

(excerpts) “I think it is in keeping with your dignity, reputations for valor

and self-respect that you should raise a volunteer force which will protect

these refugees. Break the vicious circle of attacks and retaliation for atleast

a week. If the Pakistanis do not respond satisfactorily, India would take them

to task”. On his way to the airport he addressed an angry crowd of 1 to 1.5

lakhs and made one of the greatest speeches of his life “ Pledge the safety of

Muslim refugees crossing the city. Any obstacles will only worsen the plight of

our refugees who are already performing the feats of endurance. If we have to

fight, we must fight clean. Such a fight must wait an appropriate time and

conditions and you must be watchful in choosing the ground”. Quoted from the

book Sardar by Rajmohan Gandhi.

 

3. What is the Solution? I quote Sri Aurobindo, said on April 18, 1923 when

asked about Hindu-Muslim unity? " I am sorry they are making a fetish of this

Hindu-Muslim unity. It is no use ignoring facts; some day the Hindus may have

to fight the Muslims and they must prepare for it. Hindu-Muslim unity should

not mean the subjection of the Hindus. Every time the mildness of the Hindu has

given way. The best solution would be to allow the Hindus to organize themselves

and the Hindu-Muslim unity would take care of itself, it would automatically

solve the problem. Otherwise we are lulled into a false sense of satisfaction

that we have solved a difficult problem when in fact we have only shelved it".

 

4. Can you think of any country in the world where the majority community is killed like this?

 

5. Said Sri Aurobindo on November 28, 1940, "The Mahomedans, they want to rule

India". Has anything changed.

 

6. India has had Islamic terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir and elsewhere, Christian

terrorism in North-East, the Sikhs in Punjab earlier. What is common amongst

them is the use of the Gun to kill Hindus and RDX to organize bomb blasts (eg.

Mumbai & Coimbatore) and wanting to seccedde from India. Have you wondered why

have the so called Right winged extremists never taken to AK 47 and threatened

to seccede from India.

 

7. During the last Presidential election Bill Clinton met with the head of the

Swaminarayan sect so as to get his followers to vote for Bill. Where is Bill

now? Statement! It is time Hindus learnt to mix religion with politics however

bad the idea may be?
