Cross-posted) Need for a nationwide pressThis is with reference to Mr.

Raghav Mittal's mail. The need for an unbiased Nation wide press is felt very

much at the present time. Today's newspapers are competing to fulfill the

wishes of minorities by blackening our golden heritage. Our heritage, which has

withstood many difficult situations, is passing through the toughest period. We

have to join hands to put an end to the media's effort to delude the public.

His Holiness Swami Sathyananda Saraswathy, Head of Sree Ramadasa Ashram,

Kerala, created awareness among public of the need for an unbiased newspaper

and started one in April 2001 despite the resistance from established dailies.

Swamiji named it punnyabhoomi, which means `sacred land'. Punnyabhoomi has a

unique page called `sanathan page' which discusses stories from our great

epics, Vedic hymns with meanings, details about scientific discoveries made by

Rishis of ancient India, views of great saints and a lot more. This newspaper

has started to disclose many facts about our heritage, which was deliberately

concealed from Indian Youths. On every Thursdays there is a supplement

dedicated to Indian culture. Established dailies have started working against

the rise of this press, by false propagandas. Currently Punnyabhoomi is being

published from Kerala and Mumbai, in Malayalam and the English edition from

Huston. Discussions are going on to begin the newspaper in 3 more regional

languages viz., Hindi, Marathi and Tamil . Detailed information about the
