Prizes of $151 each will be awarded to the top two middle school students and top two high school students. Prizes of $201 each will go to the top two college students. Essay topic for middle school students is "Teachings and lives of ancient Hindu sages inspire us even today." The length of essay is to be no more than 750 words. High school students are to write on "Hinduism teaches values that will help in global understanding." The essay is limited to 1000 words. "The principles of Hindu Dharma and Karma can explain the complexities of human life" is the topic for college students, whose essays may be up to 1500 words. The entrants to the competition must send four copies of their essays. Entrants must also give their particulars including: name, address, telephone number on a separate sheet and their current academic standing. Entries must reach Dr. Uma Mysorekar, Secretary/Treasurer, The Council of Hindu Temples of North America, 45-57 Bowne Street, Flushing, NY 11355 before January 31, 2003.
