Guest guest
The Heart of the Issue by: lust4_life I don't understand what these terrorists in Kashmir are fighting for. India has a population of 1.45 billion people. About 12% of those are Muslim. That translates to roughly 174 million Muslims. Pakistan has a population of 147 million (97% of whom are Muslim). So India has more Muslims then Pakistan. Are they a minority? Sure. Are they persecuted and looked down upon. I would say no. India has had presidents who are Muslim and the current president is Muslim. India is a democratic republic and has universal suffrage. Pakistan is a military dictatorship, who until recently actively supported the Taliban and Al-qeda. Some elements in that country still passively support those pariahs. Why would someone choose to associate themselves with India as opposed to Pakistan? They probably wouldn't. But with a gun (both figurative and literal) pointed at your head…who knows if you could stick to your convictions. That's exactly what these terrorists do. They call themselves Muslim to get the support of people who follow the same beliefs and scare others into feeling the same way. They have been doing this for years and have now gotten themselves into a position of power both spiritually and politically. That's why there is such animosity towards Islam. There are not enough believers who are willing to stand up and say "I don't believe in violence as a means to spread my faith." Until that happens non Muslims will continue to focus on the acts of Muslims as opposed to the beliefs of Islam.
