Guest guest Posted January 3, 2003 Report Share Posted January 3, 2003 Indian killed by Pakistanis in Hong Kong: PoliceAP[ FRIDAY, JANUARY 03, 2003 12:03:00 PM ]HONG KONG: About 20 Pakistanis armed with beer bottles and iron bars attacked a group of Indians in the wee hours of New Year's Day, fatally wounding one man and injuring another, police said on Friday.Authorities opened a murder investigation after 21-year-old M S Gurry died of his head wounds on Thursday, said police spokesman Ricky Chong.Gurry was a Hong Kong resident, said Chong, who was unable to provide the man's hometown in India.There were no immediate arrests in the attack that allegedly took place early on Wednesday after the Pakistanis became angry at noise the Indians were making in a playground in the Wanchai district some hours earlier, Chong said.Police were not able to say how many Indians were in the group that was attacked or whether any of the Indians fought back. It is unclear whether nationalistic sentiment played any role in the assault.Officials at the Indian and Pakistani consulates here said on Friday they had no immediate comment.The man who was injured was identified as 28-year-old G Singh.
