Since we might be having a war soon with this country, we might as

well look at its Vedic origin. Here are some comments from P. N. Oaks

from his book Our World Vedic Heritage, page 577.

Gauriya

Another factor to be remembered in the case of Korea is that its

initial letter 'K' is a substitute for the Sanskrit letter 'G'. An

instance of this is that the Sanskrit word 'Gow' is spelled in

English as 'Cow'. Likewise the Sanskrit Gorlya and later as Korea.

Gauri is a Vedic goddess. She is the consort of Lord Shiv. As such

she was worshipped as the Mother Goddess throughout the ancient Vedic

world. Since she was the principal deity of the Korean region that

region has derived its name Gauriya alias Korea from Her.
