Guest guest
100 Muslim youths join BJP in MP By Pervez Bari, Special to Arab News BHOPAL, 9 January 2003 — The ruling Congress party in the state of Madhya Pradesh suffered a jolt when 100 Muslim youths left the party and joined the rightist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the commercial town of Indore. A BJP release claimed that the youths, along with their leader Haji Abdul Ghaffar Noori, left Congress to join BJP at a function at Indore recently. The BJP state General Secretary Krishna Murari Moghe, in the release, said that it was probably for the first time that so many Muslims, in one go, had joined BJP in Indore. The BJP leaders criticized the Congress for adopting "communal" policies and for creating fear in the minds of minorities. The BJP MLA Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, party leader Gopi Krishna Neema and BJYM Indore unit President Kalyan Devang were among those present during the induction of the youths into the party.
