Guest guest
'In woman lies the greatest responsibility of bringing bliss' CHENNAI: The greatest responsibility of bringing bliss in a home lies with the woman as she brings power to the entire family, Swami Sukhabodhananda said on Thursday at the inaugural function of Woman's World _ a four-day long complete woman's exhibition organised by this website's newspaper. Swami Sukhabodhananda, noted spiritual leader, said woman as the caregiver of the family had the most important role of spreading the positive energy of bliss. "A woman can give the energy that arises from finding bliss to the child even as she is giving birth," he said. The bliss should be experienced by the body and soul. The energy of the body can pull or buoy the energy of the mind, he said emphasising the need to be physically and mentally fit. In a humour-laced lecture, he said: "When youngsters were following a guru and giving up their material possessions for him, a politician was intrigued. He asked the student what it was in the Guru's face that made him give up a promising future. The boy replied: `When I look at my Guru's face I know God exists.' Curious, the politician asked the boy what was seen in his face. The boy replied: `I know even God can make a mistake'." Drawing an analogy between chin mudra _ yogic posture of bringing the index finger and thumb together while straightening out the other three _ and life, he said the thumb on top is the paramatma and the index finger was the jeevatma. The little finger, ring finger and middle finger were physical, emotional and intellectual centres of the being, respectively. Keeping the body happy is the first step to bliss, he said. Sage Patanjali had in his treatise on yoga said the starting point for feeling bliss is the stirasukha asana for stability and happiness. To experience bliss, one has to be awakened emotionally and be purified intellectually. If there is no athbutha rasa, a sense of wonderment, life become as dull as a graveyard, he said. Buddhi is an attribute that only human beings have but very few use, the Swamiji said. "There is an asura (evil) and sura (goodness) in all of us. When we feel the mercy, we become Ram-like and when are jealous we become like Duryodhana. Spirituality lies in destroying the asura and bringing out the sura," he told a wonder-struck audience. The practice of Karma, Bhakti and Gnana yoga will lead to the surrender of the lower form to the higher form of life and a heightening of spirituality. And it does not matter from whom one learns how to attain bliss, he said. "What the sun cannot light up in the night, a little lamp can," he concluded.
