The Hare Krishna Movement goes back a minimum of 500 years. Its teachings are based on the Bhagavad Gita which has been dated a minimum age of 2300 years. The fact that thousands of westerners have decided to practice a lifestyle based on this ancient cultural tradition does not automatically make it a brain washing cult. Rather its the failures of western civilization that encourage so many to seek out alternative lifestlyles. the US Supreme court amongst others has recognized that the Hare Krsnas are an authentic branch of Hinduism,the world's most ancient, largest and ongoing culltural tradition.
