Guest guest
On the beat of spiritual India 27.03.2003 With sound and vision, the Holiwater Project is an evocation of Indian spirituality, with electronic beats. The multimedia installation has Indian classical music played by Varanasi sarod player Vikash Maharaj and his son, tabla player Prabash, with dub/electronic producer Tom Bailey of International Observer and former Dead Can Dance percussionist James Pinker. With footage filmed by Andrei Jewell depicting life along the Ganges, the Holiwater Project was one of the attractions at the Womad festival where it drew hundreds to a small glade at the side of the main site. The project comes to Auckland tomorrow for a final show at St Mathew- in-the-City at 8pm. Tickets are $28 ($18 for students with ID) from Beautiful Music in Pitt St. There will be limited door sales. Complimentary wine and mineral water and authentic Indian chai (tea) will be available.
