Guest guest
President Jefferson, the 3rd president of the USA, is probably one of the most admired US presidents. He is also famous for writing the US Constitution. However, the evidence proves that when he wrote the words, "All Men Are Created Equal..etc." He only meant a certain class of men. Not only was he a slave owner, but he also conspired to destroy the culture of the American Indians. Publicly, he appeared very sympathetic, yet the official documents show a completely different reality. In a letter to William Harrison, another later President of the USA, he wrote,"When the Indians withdraw themselves to the culture of a small piece of land, they will percieve how useless to them are the excessive forests and will be willing to pare them in exchange for neccesaries for their farms and families. To promote this, we shall push our trading houses, and BE GLAD TO SEE THE GOOD AND INFLUENTIAL INDIVIDUALS AMONGST THE INDIANS IN DEBT, BECAUSE WE OBSERVE THAT WHEN THESE DEBTS GO BEYOND WHAT THE INDIVIDUAL CAN PAY, THEY BECOME WILLING TO LOP THEM OFF BY A CESSION OF LANDS. BUT SHOULD ANY TRIBE REFUSE THE PROFFERED HAND AND TAKE UP THE HATCHET, IT WILL BE DRIVEN ACROSS THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND THE WHOLE OF THE LANDS CONFISCATED." So while the world has lauded America and its Founding Fathers as champions of democracy, the verifiable records show the opposite. Its high time the true humanity and glory of India's heroes and culture be known to the world. Then, rather than chasing the false shadow of liberty, freedom and justice that is America, the world can become hopeful that there has truly been and thus once again will be true democracy, freedom and liberty. This can only happen when India's true history is taught to its own people. Vrn Parker
