Guest guest
Namaste! I'm looking into Traditional diet of India, as I am an Ayurvedic practitioner and am interested in incorporating it into my practise. I've been trying to find information on what sorts of foods were eaten in India in Vedic times - or in pre-European times in general. Specifically I'm interested in what was eaten before Columbus 'discovered' the New World and brought Tomatoes, Chilis, Potatoes, Beans etc... to the rest of the world. It is very difficult to find a variety of Indian recipes without these specific foods, they seem to have taken over Indian cuisine!! So I'm on a mission to discover what the diet was like BEFORE these foods came onto the scene in India (eg. pre-1500s). I would like examples of the vegetables etc were commonly eaten and recipes would also be GREAT!! Can anyone help me? Researching this subject on the internet has proven difficult. Thanks in advance, --------------------------- Yolande Manson, A.M.D, N.D.
