Jagadguru Shri Jayendra Swamiji Peetarohana Swarna Jayanti Mahotsav.

While addressing the devotees at Vidhyadhiraj hall, Swamiji said that

we should preserve our ancient-old Vedic culture which gives us peace

of mind. Hindu dharma is the world's oldest living dharma based on

the theory of rebirth and karma. The sin is the root cause of pain,

while good deeds lead to progress, he said. The Shankaracharya gave a

message to the people that they should always keep their anger under

control and love humanity.

The Governor, Mr Kidar Nath Sahani in his presidential address

expressed that one should maintain discipline and preserve tradition.

He said that we need the blessings of Saints to enrich our life. The

people of Goa and Vasco in particular, are fortunate to have Swamiji

in their own town, he stated.

The president of Kanchi Kamakoti (Goa committee), Mr Dattaraj

Salgaonkar in his welcome address recalled that Goans have preserved

the ancient culture and spirituality in spite of various struggles.

Love for the God and faith in land are the two main beliefs of the

Goans, he added.

On the occasion, Mr Salgaonkar released books - Jayendra Vani and

Preceptors of Advaita and handed over the first copies to the

Governor. Earlier, Mr Salgaonkar welcomed Swamiji in traditional way

by performing padya pooja.

Among those present on the occasion include Mr Srinivas V Dempo, Mr S

Chandrashekharan, Mr P K Mohanty, chairman, MPT, Mr Shrikant

Dhargalkar and others.

Mr V Shankar, General Secretary, National Celebration Committee read

out the profile of Swamiji. A documentary Perivaa was also shown to

the people. Mr Kidar Nath Sahani and Ms Vimala Sahani were

felicitated by the organising committee.

Meanwhile, the Swamiji will attend the 3rd annual function (Vardhanti

utsav) of Shri Balaji and Sri Padmavati on April 20 and 21, 2003, at

Kundaim. He will also shower his blessings to the patients from rural

parts of Goa who had undergone free eye surgery organised by the Sri

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust, Goa in association with the

Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, a trust established by the Kanchi

Acharayas.

The Maha Kumbhabhishek and Shri Mahaganapati Pratishthapana will be

held on April 23 at the newly constructed temple at Sri Gomantak

Tirupati Balaji Padmavati Devasthan, Cuncoliem, Mardol.

The entire cost of the temple has been donated by Ms Kokila Ambani

and late Dhirubhai Ambani.
