Guest guest
Hari Bolo Prabhus ! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga! Last Fall a group of senior ISKCON managers gathered in Los Angeles for the purpose of seriously looking at how they might be able to do a better job leading Srila Prabhupada's movement in North America. It was apparently decided that it those meeting for this discussion should get some input from the devotee community before the meeting, in order to get a more well rounded understanding of what the issues were that needed to be looked at. With that in mind a list of focus questions was made up and then sent out for devotees to respond to, and then that input would be considered during the meeting. Somehow I was selected to respond to these questions. It is not really clear why anyone would solicit my opinion on the serious subject of ISKCON management, but somehow it did and I concluded that mine is not to reason why... I concluded it must be because Krishna wanted it that way! I felt honored to be part of this process so I blocked out a few evenings of my time and composed the following document which consists of my 2 cents worth of realizations related to management. It is a bit long for the internet format and I apologize for that to my reader. But for those who have appreciated my work in the past I think you will find a few nuggets of good ideas here if you are willing to wade through the entire document. When I was done putting my notes together I then sent them in as requested to do so with the hope that it might help steer ISKCON towards good decision making in the future. That was about six months ago and since then I have shared this document with several of my immediate devotee associates. After getting some nice response from that select group it occurred to me that this document might be of interest with the larger Vaishnava community. So I am submitting it here with the express intent of sharing these thoughts with whomever might benefit from them, regardless of where they may fall in the management structure of Lord Caitanya's burgeoning harinama community. It is not my intent to adversely critize or implicate anyone in particular so in the few cases I have cited where some might interpreted that is what I am doing, please do not project your conclusions onto my words. This is ment to be a consturctive analysis of some of the issues of the day that we are all concerned about and know exist but are still trying to work out in mature and responsible ways. Readers are welcome to contact me with their follow up ideas, suggestions and comments and I will do the best I can to respond where appropriate. Hoping this finds you nicely engaged in the service of Lord Krishna.
