Krishna and Christ - Like Father like Son

An original pronunciation of the name Christ is Khristos, a variation of Lord

Krishna's name. As one receives the name of their father, Lord Jesus received

the name of the Supreme Father, Christ. Krishna or Christ, both indicate the

same all-attractive Supreme Personality of Godhead. Lord Jesus is identified as

the Son of God, and Lord Krishna as God, the Father of all beings. Lord Jesus

and Lord Krishna are one and the same in spirit and purpose. Their teachings

are nondifferent.

A foremost principle taught by Lord Jesus Christ is mercy and compassion for

all, thus the commandments state "thou shall not kill." Lord Sri Krishna has

imparted the same instructions unto all humanity.

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, spiritual master of the

Krishna Consciousness movement, explains in the Srimad Bhagavatam:

"One should be compassionate to all living entities. Regardless of whether

human, animal, tree or plant, all living entities are sons of the Supreme

Personality of Godhead. Lord Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita (14.4):"

"It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made

possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving

father."

The different forms of these living entities are only their external dresses.

Every living being is actually a spirit soul, a part and parcel of God.

Therefore one should not favor only one kind of living being. A Vaisnava

(devotee of God) sees all living entities as part and parcel of God."

We can extend mercy and compassion by adapting the proper diet which God has

ordained for humans. We can renounce the cruel maintenance of slaughterhouses

which bring about untold suffer- ings upon animals and humans. The universal

law of God and nature called karma, reacts to such cruelty by inflicting

miseries upon humanity in the form of war, disease, and natural catastrophe.

Humans are endowed with the power of choosing to return to the pure and natural

way of living shown by Lord Jesus Christ and Lord Krishna.

Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all

the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed;

to you it shall be for meat. (Genesis 1:29)

Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name

Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil,

and choose the good. (Isaiah 7:15)

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy" (Lord Jesus' Sermon on the Mount)
