Guest guest
Hare Krishna Alexandra, > Every human is an incarnation of God, right? No way. > So can one reach enlightenment by worshipping any ordinary person as god/goddess? Nope. Maybe some little material results, like in tantra. > Does that only work with Avatars, or certain spiritual advanced persons like ones Guru? Yes. Guru as a representative of God. > Or does that also work with completely ordinary persons? > For instance Indian women in earlier times regarded their husbands as gods, and then there is also the worship of Devi in form of virginal girls. Vedic wife calls her husband "prabhu" or "swami", which means "lord" because she sees him as a representative of Visnu. He sees her as a representative of Laksmi. This is ethics and has nothing to do with worship. Unmarried girls are similarly seen as representing Sati (virgin form of Maya Devi). Saktas sometimes worship them in this way, e.g. in tantric rituals. This is a lower form of worship in rajo guna. Hope this helps.
