Guest guest Posted September 23, 2003 Report Share Posted September 23, 2003 Tuesday September 23 2003 10:41 IST refuses to remove anti-India content, site blocked NEW DELHI: The Government has issued orders to block website, /groups/kynhun, for promoting anti-national news and carrying objectionable material against the Government of India and state government of Meghalaya. The IT and communications ministry issued the order on the instructions of Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-IN), under the department of information technology, who are authorised to ask for such a blocking, an official statement said here on Monday. This is the first time a website has been blocked under Cert-IN since it came into being in July this year. Representatives of in India had been requested to remove the objectionable material from the reference, the statement said. However, they declined to comply with the request, it further stated. Section 69 of the IT Act 2000 empowers the controller of certifying authority to intercept any information transmitted through any computer resource in relation to the interest of the sovereignty or integrity of India, the security of the state, friendly-relations with the foreign state, public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence Web sites promoting hate content, slander or defamation of others, gambling, racism, violence and terrorism, pornography can be reasonably blocked, the statement further said.
