Invincible Defence Against Terrorism

Can militaries eliminate terrorism solely through a dynamic approach, by

deploying its weaponry and soldiers, as they have done in the past?

The answer is "no." Often, such strategies only raise tensions even further.

Military leaders need to understand that terrorism and war are human problems

requiring human solutions. The underlying cause of these, and other types of

social violence, is accumulated stress.

Therefore, to eliminate such social problems, all militaries need to reduce

collective societal stress. The answer to the problem is simple. No collective

stress - no tension between rival factions. No terrorism.

Extensive scientific research indicates that the best way to reduce collective

societal stress, and thereby snuff out war and terrorism, is by adopting an

ancient Vedic strategy. Heyam duhkham anagatam. (Yog-Sutra, 2.16) "Avert the

danger that has not yet come." Physicist and Vedic scholar Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

has revived the ancient Vedic technology of Invincible Defence in a

non-religious manner. It has been quietly and successfully used by members of

many faiths to eliminate conflict in the recent past. By applying this human

resource-based technology, which is nourishing and not destructive, all

militaries could reduce tensions and control terrorism.

The main principle of Invincible Defence Technology is to prevent conflicting

tendencies. Tat sannidhau vairatyagah. (Yog-Sutra, 2.35) "In the vicinity of

Yogic influence - unifying influence, integrating influence, coherent and

harmonious influence - conflicting tendencies do not arise."

"There is research in the field of conflict resolution that shows great

promise," says Colonel (Dr.) Brian M. Rees, US Army Reserve in his recent book,

"Terrorism, Retaliation and Victory." "But it requires that we think way

outside the box. Hold on to your hats and I will introduce you to an approach

that has held up under rigorous evaluation." Colonel Rees builds a compelling

case for using Invincible Defense Technology to end terrorism. He advocates a

Prevention Wing of the Military to prevent an enemy from arising.

A Prevention Wing of the Military would be the ideal way to use this technology.

This wing would comprise about 2-3% of the military. The remaining personnel

would carry out their normal military duties. The Prevention Wing of the

Military would be trained in the primary components of Invincible Defence

Technology - the Transcendental Meditation programme and its advanced

practices. They would practise these techniques in a group morning and evening.

The group would radiate coherence in the atmosphere, affecting their own minds

as well the minds of others, including those of the opponents. Peaceful

overtures would increase from all sides, reducing tensions.

This method for creating peace has been tried out in many war zones and

conflict-prone areas with excellent results; the success has been scientifically

validated and documented. A study using Rand think tank data published in the

Journal of Offender Rehabilitation showed a 72% reduction in international

terrorism when the proper threshold of people practicing Invincible Defense

Technology was reached.

Over fifty scientific studies indicate that when 1% of the population practises

the TM programme morning and evening (or the square root of 1% of the population

practises the more advanced TM-Sidhi programme), a coherent field effect is

created. This was named the "Maharishi Effect" by scientists. This effect comes

from the self-referral level of consciousness, the transcendental level of

consciousness. Thus, harnessing the mighty power of Natural Law as a force

multiplier strengthens both approaches - a dynamic approach through weaponry,

and a silent approach through the Prevention Wing of the Military. Defence will

be perfect, or invincible, when both these approaches are combined.

In summary, the war against terrorism cannot be stopped using conventional

military means. Militaries of all nations need a new technology that affects the

minds of people, directing their thinking toward peace rather than toward

terrorism and war. They need to quickly adopt Invincible Defence Technology

immediately for lasting peace.
