Guest guest
Dear fellow Indians, Ancient Indian history is a very interesting and mysterious subject. There are basically, two lines of thought on Ancient Indian History. One is the western thought, which is mostly based on the concepts of Max Mueller. Indian leftists support this view. Dravidians or the Indian Aborigines have had a great past. Settled in India around 2500 BC, they have developed a great city civilisation across the western India and Pakistan. Aryans, a race from Central Asia, have tamed horses and invaded these civilisations of Dravidians.(This has happened around 1500 BC) They have brought vedas from the outside of India. They drove away the Dravidians to the south. Those caught as prisoners of war are called 'dasus' or slaves. The second line of thought is advocated by the so called swadeshi thinkers. B G Tilak, PC Sengupta and several others put forth this theory that Indian civilisation is several thousands years older than what the westeners thought. They totally reject the theory of Aryan invasion. My endeavour to find the truth. A historian should be objective in his profession and most of the historians dealing with Indian past are biased one way or other. If One thought deals with India as a country of inferiors , surprisingly having a past, the other thought is too emotional and too righteous about the country. For westeners, the Indian culture cannot go too long back, for it means Indians will then not only be culturally greater to them but also, it will contradict their own theological thoughts, espoused in Genesys. Also, these inferior lot cannot put forth any original concept. Thus, the Rg veda is rewritten from persian books. The ten avatars are no more than stories retold from the countries of Latin, Greek and Egypt. And Bhagavad gita dates later to Buddhism ( is perhaps written by Adi Sankara, to salvage Hinduism from the hands of Buddhists and Jains) On the other hand, while the swadeshi thinkers base their findings on the indigenous data (which is perhaps is the right way to do) , they are too emotionally attached to this past. I agree with their findings that Indian culture dates back to several thousand years and LOrd Rama ,Lord Krishna and Hanuman are historical figures. There is so much history that can be derived from our ancient texts such as vedas and puranas. Like it is said about vedas "Vedas aren't just the scriptural texts, but the earliest record of Indo-Aryan civilization. On the basis of this corpus of mankind's oldest literature, together with his indepth analyses of the later- day Puranic writings, Professor Bhargava offers the first ever systematic, well-knit study of the Aryan expansion on the Indian subcontinent since c. 3100 BC. Retrieving, thus, hard historical facts from the complex Sanskrit verses of ancient seers, Dr. Bhargava's book opens a fascinating panorama of life in Vedic India— highlighting, in particular, its powerful dynastic families, its rsis, society, economic conditions, political setup, religion, philosophy and literature. The book also includes a vivid description of the Aryan homeland, its geography, flora, fauna, and a lot else." (Though here the word aryan is used wrongly !!!ARyans is not a race ) If the moderator gives me chance, I will regulary address this club putting the history straight> I request the moderator to kindly give me permission to do so and all of you please help in this endeavour by writing to me regularly. I request all of you to please comment on this piece with regards, kishore
