-0000[VFA-members] About the Use of term HinduHi everyone,In brief, we

live in a world that imposes certain demands on all of us. the fact is,

followers of Sanatana Dharma may not want to be labelled Hindu etc but any time

any of these groups are taken to court they hide behind the term Hindu. like it

or not Hinduism is a legally recognized religion so rather than continuing to

divide into vedic this or sanatan dharma that, I belive it is better to face

reality and accept the legal identification as Hindus. In the UK,Iskcon's

Bhaktivedanta manor won the court battle by publicly declaring themselves as a

Hindu place of worship. In the USA, Isckon was victorious in court and rather

than being declared a

dangerous new cult, Isckon was legally recognized as an authentic part of the

Hindu religion. In Russia, a recent victory was also achieved by id-ing with

the Hindu religion. So in the same way, I would rather spend all my time

promoting vedic culture but cant because I must feed my kids, pay rent and thus

work for a company that has nothin to do with vedic culture, I accept the

reality. I am also not really an American, right. I am a Jiva atma, but if I

tried to go to India without my passport andclaimed that i didnt need one cause

Im not an American, I would probably be put in jail. Its true I am not an

American, but in order to be a functioning member of the world I accept that

identity. Trying to declare a non-hindu identity is like declaring that we are

citizens of the universe rather than of individual nations. At the core this is

the truth but it is not a functional reality. In the same way, anyone who follows

what is a traditional aspect of the civilization legally and academically known

as Hinduism needs to accept the reality that they are members of the Hindu

civilization.Dont like it, then next time Isckon's legitimacy is threatened try

winning without identifying itself with hinduism.Again and again Hinduism has

come to the rescue of Isckon and other groups. So to try and create a separate

identity is wrong and will only lead to more division. Rather all followers of

Sanatana Dharma should be appreciative and grateful for the spiritual and

cultural nourishment, support and encouragement that we have from the Hindus

because we truly are members of that wonderful civilization.Jaya Sri

Hi,

I completely agree with you.We have to accept the fact that hinduism

is the modern version of santana dharma.Even in school and in any

form which we have to fill up in india whether it is for some bank

loan or elections, the column which pertains to religion asks u

whether you are hindu, muslim, christian etc.I guess hinduism is for

this yug as people dont have time to do elaborate rituals like in

vedic period.Maybe that is why god said that during kalyuf chanting

lords name is more than enough.
