Guest guest
By Drew Lawrence: Vedic Astrological Consultantdrewjlawrence (AT) hotmail (DOT) comwww.drewlawrence.comJohn Kerry, the democratic challenger, is in a Mercury major and Mercury minor period from May 12, 2003 until October 9, 2005. For a Scorpio Ascendant, Mercury is not considered to be a favorable planetary period. It is positioned in the 2nd house of Kerry's birth chart which may bode well for him financially but does not necessarily favor him with power and position. However, since Mercury owns the 11th house, there should be some victories and further expansion of his name and fame. He is, after all, a presidential candidate, having defeated the rest of the democratic field of candidates. From his lunar chart, Mercury owns his 5th house which could bode well in an election except that it is placed in the 8th house, giving way to difficulties, obstacles and failures. It does aspect his natal Saturn position and this may offer some solace for his career climb but one would need much more to beat a formidable opponent. Also from his moon chart, the transiting Saturn which rules the 10th house of career and professional achievement, is now in cancer approaching his natal Rahu placement. Rahu may well prove a spoiler for his presidential ambition. Further, Saturn is transiting the 8th house from his Mercury whose period is in operation. This too may undo his lofty aspiration to be leader of the free world.Transiting Jupiter has moved into Virgo in the sky which is Kerry's 11th house. This is a powerful and fortunate transit which can indicate some worthy triumph and success. But is it enough on its own to propel him into the political stratosphere? There doesn't seem to be enough support from other astrological influences to bring this about. At election time, Kerry will be in a sub period of Rahu in the 9th house in the sign of Cancer. This isn't too bad and will trigger the raja-yoga, the combination for kingship and success indicated by Mars' and Moon's conjunction in the 7th house, the house of wars, battles and campaigns. However, it is more likely to cause emotional disappointment and letdown followed by a need to reevaluate his life and direction.George W. Bush, the Republican candidate and encumbent U.S. President is currently in a major period of Saturn which began October 29, 2000, a mere four days before the last presidential election. The major period of Saturn ushered him into office as the current president. In his birth chart, Saturn is on his Ascendant in the sign of Gemini along with Venus and Mercury, indicating two distinct raja-yogas or combinations for kingship between Saturn and Mercury and between Mercury and Venus. Saturn is a planet that delivers its benefits of power and status most usually in the second part of life, that is, after the age of 40.Bush continues to run the major period of Saturn and has now entered the minor period of Mercury as of November 2, 2003 which will run until July 11, 2006. This only bolsters his current position of power and the likelihood of a repeat win in the coming election. For both raja-yogas or kingship combinations are now triggered in his favor. From the Moon Chart or Chandra-Lagna, these planets are in the 10th house, the house of career success, power and position. Mercury is lord of the first house in its own sign of Gemini in the 10th in a raja-yoga, a combination for kingship with Saturn, lord of the 5th house. This is a phenomenal combination and both periods of Saturn and Mercury are currently in operation. It is a period of great success and renders him almost impossible to beat in a contest, depending on what's happening astrologically with his opponent.Further, the highly beneficent planet, Jupiter, which can bestow great blessing and good fortune has now moved into the sign of Virgo in the heavens as of August 27th, 2004. That means it is transiting over the natal position of the Moon and Jupiter in Bush's birth chart, one of the best transits known to man and coming only once every 12 years. Jupiter rules his 10th house, the house of power and position. Again, it almost assures him success in his professional endeavors. From both the main chart and the lunar chart, Jupiter rules his 7th house, the house of wars, battles and campaigns. With Jupiter himself enforcing and strengthening his own natal benefits, it would be vary difficult to overthrow him under these circumstances.Additionally, from Bush's lunar chart, the transiting planet Saturn has moved into his 11th house in the sign of Cancer as of September 6, 2004. This two year transit can deliver great wealth and the benefits of power and influence, particularly as it approaches his natal Mars position, November 2006. Bush would be a hard man to beat for almost any opponent with this current unfolding of karma. At election time, Bush will be in a sub period of Sun in the 12th house in the sign of Taurus. Although this is not a strong position for the Sun, there are too many other positive factors to make this a pivotal concern. Further, from the lunar chart, the Sun is in the 9th house and bodes well for ascendancy to government office. The Sun itself is THE planet of political power. Also on election day, the Moon will be in the sign of Gemini in conjunction with Kerry''s natal Saturn position in the 8th house from his Ascendant and the 2nd from his Moon. It is not all that strong or encouraging a transit for him.For Bush, it will be right on top of his powerful raja-yoga of Mercury, Venus and Saturn on his Ascendant and in the 10th house from his natal Moon position. He's probably already drafting his acceptance speech.CONCLUSIONThere are just too many factors in support of a Bush victory. If Kerry wins which I seriously doubt, it would be a true upset. It is always difficult to unseat an incumbent president and Americans more often than not vote the incumbent out rather than voting the new guy in. Astrologically, things are just not compelling enough for Kerry to win this election on his own merit. And even though there is widespread dislike of Bush in many quarters, fate will favor his return to power.Drew LawrenceMonduffBallyedmonduff RoadStepaside, Dublin 18IrelandIn Ireland: (01) 294-6888From U.S. 011 353 1 294-6888www.drewlawrence.com Read only the mail you want - Mail SpamGuard.
