Guest guest
JAYA SRIMAN NARAYANA "ERarum EthirRasanena UdithAn VAzhiye" It is the strong belief of the Sri Vaishnava sampradhayam that Swami Manavala Mamunigal is the re-incarnation of Swami Emberumanar and hence Mamunigal was popularly known as "Ethipuna avathAra bhUthar" and we adiyOngal also everyday praise him as "ERarum EthirAsanena UdithAn VAzhiye" . Few of the common noble qualities of the two great acharyas are explained through this posting. 1) As Swami Ramanuja had written his most famous and outstanding comentaries for Sri Bhashyam , Vedantasaras , and Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Swami Manavala Mamunigal also wrote commentaries for Rhahasya Granthas which are equally very great and popular. Likewise, just as Swami Ramanuja has written a few mUla granthas like VEdanta Sangraha and Gadhyathrayam, Swami Manavala Mamunigl also has original mUla granthas like Ethiraja Vimsathi and Upadesa Rathinamalai. 2) Each and every grantha of both the revered acharyas is a big boon for the sampradhaya vidwans, as all their granthas are fully laden with only saasthra arthas without even a slightest tinge of sarcasm or criticism on any matter whatsoever. 3) As Swami Ramanuja had very great reverance to the works of his predecessors, which is explicitly indicated at the beggining itself of his magnum opus commentary on Brahmasutra the "Sri Bhashyam" , Swami Manavala Mamunigal also in the same lin shows his reverance to purva acharya's works as' "MunnOr Mozhinda Murai Thappamal Kettu" "Munnavaram Nam Kuravar Mozhigal UllapetrOm". Further, he wrote all his Vyakhyana granthas only on purvacharya's Sri sukthis. 4) Swami Ramanuja's deep love for "Thiruvaimozhi" is very well known by all sri vaishnavas an we, in our everyday routine praise him as, "MAranurai Saidha Thamizhmarai ValarthOn VAzhiyE", and we also seek his grace by praying as, " Eindhaperum sErar Satakopan Sendamizh Vedam tharikkum pErada Ullampera .... " Einda perum kEErthi Ramanujmuniyin vAinda malarpAdam VanagukirEn". Similarly, the great love of Manavala Mamunigal for thruvaimozhi was admired by one and all of the followers of his time, and it was Mamunigal's relentless effort that sustained the eternal fame of the Dravida Vedas. With our sincere gratitude we remember the great acharyas as- " vAzhi - Thiruvaaimozhi porulai MAnilathOr ThErumbadi Uraikkum Seer". 5) Swami Emberumanar instituted the Seventyfour simhasanadhipathis to administer the Darsana karyam . In his foot step Mamumunigal also appointed Ashtadik Gajangal for the purpose of Darsana Nirvaham. 6) Both the acharyas had indepth passion for all the divya desams , which the mystic alwars had visited and sang immortal songs - the "Nalayiram " in praise of the preceding deites of every divya desam they had visited. As swami Ramanuja had offered "Oru Nayagamai " thiruvaimozhi to Thirunarayanapuram Emberuman,. Swami Manavala Mamunigal too had offered "Theerparaiyamini" thiruvoimozhi for Rajamannargidi Rajagopalan. It should be noted that the Lords at both the sannidhis are not sung by the alwars. 7) Both the acharyas are the incarnation of Thiruvanandhazhwan , one of the Nithyasuris eteranally serving the Supreme Lord Sriman Narayana in His abode at Srivaikuntham . Granthas like Divyasuricharitham, Ethiraja Vaibhavam and Varavaramuni Sathakam are the well known pramanas to establish the above fact. 8) Swami Ramanuja had served the Lord of Srirangam with intense love and devotion and it is Swami who with great fondness and care maintained the Sri Ranga Sri which kainkaryam os Swami is even to ta-date remembered and appreciated by every Srivaishnava as, " Thennarangar Selvam Mutrum ThiruthivaithAn VazhiyE". In Parallel, Swami Manavalamamunigal is also remembered by SriVaishnava Samuham as, " Aranganagar VAzha - Einnum Oru NUtrAndu Eirum" 9) To Conclude, with a view to protect the Ubhaya Vedanthas, Thiruvanandhazhwan Incarnated as Swami Ramanuja to defeat the Samskrita Kudrishtis and as Swami Manavala Mamunigal to defeat the Dravida Veda Kudrishtis thereby establushed the unfathomable greatness of the immortal Ubhaya Vedhanthas. May the Lord Thiruvanandhazhwan bless us all the "Sri Vaishnava Sri".
