Guest guest
Hindu January 18, 2002 A gift to the devotee Krishi - Sanskrit devotional chant - Sri Venkatesa Suprabhatam, Stotram - Prapatti and Managalasasanam - Price not mentioned. THE 70 Sanskrit slokas composed by Sriman Prativadi Bhayankara Annan, disciple of Sri Manavala Mamuni, are chanted in the sanctum sanctorum of the Tirumalai Temple, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, early every morning. These slokas consist of the Venkatesa Suprabhatam to awaken the Lord, Stotram, extolling the Lord's greatness and nobility, Prapatti in which the devotee surrenders himself totally to the Almighty, and Mangalasasanam that wishes the Almighty all the very best as He is the one who sustains the three worlds. The musical and temple versions of the hymns recited with meticulous diction are truly a balm to the soul. The script in different Indian languages such as Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Marathi, etc. and the meanings in English, are gifts to the devotee and the learner. The illustrations are absolutely breath-taking - the wonderful scenery, the temple Gopuram, the deities, the entrance of the Sannadhi with the Dwarakapalakas majestically guarding the doors, the Lord on the Anantha, the Leelas of Lord Krishna, incidents from the Ramayana, the Gitopadesa, Garuda carrying the celestial couple, and others, succeed in strumming the chord of Bhakti to great effect. The album comes to an auspicious conclusion with salutations and felicitations to Lord Srinivasa. ? S. P.
