Guest guest
Dear Bhagavathas: Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy's lucid, perspicacious response to my earlier question on karma enclosed. aDiyEn, sridhar - Velukkudi Krishnan pataps Monday, January 28, 2002 12:35 PM Karma - how is it destroyed by the Lord. Dear Sri Sridhar, You had raised a query about karmas and how they are destroyed by Sriman Narayana. At the macro level karma is of two catergories - pUrva agha (committed before saraNAgati ) and uttara agha (committed after saraNAgati). They are further classified as follows: 1.. pUrva agha 1.1 sancita - karmas saved and untouched for which we are yet to enjoy the fruits 1.2 prArabdha - karmas for which Lord has started giving us the fruits. 1.2.1. vartamAna sarIra arabdha - fruits of karmas done in this birth 1.2.2. sarIrAntara arabdha - fruits which we enjoy now but for karmas of earlier births. ( it is to be understood that karmas of one birth may take many births to enjoy and spend) 2.. uttara agha 2.1 gnAna krtam - committed with our knowledge 2.1.1. sAnutApa gnAna krtam - committed with our knowledge for which we repent. 2.1.2. niranutApa gnAna krtam - committed with our knowledge for which we do not repent. 2.2 agnAna krtam - committed without our knowledge - unintentional due to our continuing existence in this samsara. 2.2.1. sAnutApa gnAta krtam - for which we repent 2.2.2 niranuTapa gnAta krtam - for which we do not repent. Once we surrender - sancita karma is written off as a welcome gesture. sarIrAntara arabdha are also written off but in a different manner - puNyas are distributed to the well wishers of the saraNAgata and pApas to his enemies. Vartamana sarIra arabdha is rescheduled and condensed till the end of the current birth. The surrenderer has to enjoy and spend this before this birth. Out of the uttara agha - agnAna krtam is made as an object of his vAtsalyam - (the quality of assuming dOshAs as gunAs ) and so washed off. He does not take cognizance of them. Out of the gnAta krtam - sAnutApa is made as an object of his kshamA and written off. This anutApa must be after seeking pardon from bhagavan if it is an apacara toward the Lord, or seeking pardon from bhAgavata if it is an apacara towards a bhagavata. For gnAta krtam for which we do not repent - "THIS IS SOMETHING UNACCEPTABLE BY THE LORD AFTER SARANAGATI" - this has to be enjoyed by the samsari - bhagavan adds the fruits of this to the ongoing rescheduled vartamAna sarIra arabdha karma and clears it at the end of the current birth. This is how the whole lot of karmas are dealt with by Sriman Narayana on saraNAgati. Can you find a better administrator? Regards.
