Subsequently Bramha instructed this to unqualified ones such as Madhu and KaiTabha. Thus Bramha became a sinner being involved in the 'abduction' the vEdAs. Rudra plucked Bramha's head which got stuck to Rudra's hands and hence became a sinner too. At that time who else protected Bramha and Rudra as well as the three worlds being tormented by hiranyAkSha, hiranyakashipu and rAvana but the Supreme Being SrimannArAyana ? As soon as water was poured to receive the three worlds from Bali , He grew as Trivikrama so that all the beings in the worlds can have His grace when he measured the entire bhoolOka with one of His feet and the Bramha lOka and beyond with His another, Bramha washed those divine feet using the water from his water vessel 'kamanDala' . This water when it flowed to this bhoolOka in the form of Ganga , Rudra adorned it on his head and thus received the auspicious name "shiva" . Note: The fact that Rudra sanctified himself by the adornment of the holy water that flowed from washing of the divine feet of srimannArAyana is quoted not only by vaishnava sampradAya but also has been described in Srimad BhAgavatham. Even in AdhyAtma rAmAyana, it is said that when VasiShta visited Sri rAma in his palace, Sri rAma washed the feet of His guru and sprinkled that water on His head. Then his guru remarks " Oh rAmA! You sprinkled water from washing my feet on Your head! But rudra attained sanctification by the adornment of the water flowed from washing Your divine feet on his head! " as quoted in the slOka below: adyAtma rAmAyanE ayOdhyAkAndE tritIyasargE svarnA pAtrENa pAnIya mAnivayAshu jAnakI | ratnAsanE samAvEshyapAdou prakShaLya bhaktita: tadApashyirasAdrutvA sItayAsaharAghava: || dhanyOsmItya bravIdrAmastava pAdAmbudhAraNat SrIrAmaiNaiva muktastuprahasanmunirabravIt | tvatpAdasalilamdrutvA dhanyObhoodgirijApati: bramhApimatpitAtEhi pAdatIrthahatAshubha: || ALavandAr tiruvadigalE saranam Send FREE Valentine eCards with Greetings! http://greetings.
