Guest guest
srImathE rAmAnujAya namah dear bhAgavathAs, Here is an update on the divyadEsam support efforts. I had the opportunity to be at thirunAngUr this weekend and met one of the 3 trustees of 7 temples (out of 11 in the area). The other two reside in chennai and thanjAvUr respectively, and are upto speed on this already. Here is what we have: 1. The immediate need is for 2 parichArakAs and 1 archaka. 2. I met 2 people present that can be good parichArakAs. These two bhAgavathAs are local, *and* want to stay there and serve the temples there. 3. A candidate has been identified for the additional archaka position, but I was not able to meet this person. 4. srI kaNNan (the local managing trustee) will be our contact for help with visiting these places and for supervision of the effort. 5. We will conduct random checks to ensure that the kainkaryam is proceeding smoothly. 6. The temples will be open for a fixed time in the morning and in the evening (4 hours each), and the timings will be advertised to everyone. 7. During the random checks (done by anyone that is identified by us - may be some known person visiting the area, or may be members of the family of the sponsor(s), or may be some Vedics volunteer), we intend to have a set of questions that we will ask the volunteers fill answers for based on their observation (was the temple open? was the lamp lit? was there good conditions for the sEvai etc. etc.). And we will use this feedback with the trustees and the people involved if there is any complaint. 8. The effort is slated to start from the month of March (or as soon as we are able to arrange funds). 9. By this weekend, we will have the names and other pertinent information for our use, and will start the effort. Please give us your valuable thoughts/ideas on the above structure/arrangement and we can tweak this as we go forward. In the next few weeks, we will be taking on a similar effort in kAnchipuram, and I will post updates once we have some progress. adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, Varadhan Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.
