JAYA RAMANUJA YADAVADRI SHRINGE Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Namah: Sri Yadugiri Yatiraja Sampathkumara Parabrahmane Namah: Repair of Swami Nammalvar Sannidhi at Melkote (Tirunarayanapuram) KAINKARYAM OPPORTUNITY AT YATIRAJA'S FAVORITE PLACE Dear Bhaagawathas: Swami Nammalvar sannidhi at Melkote currently stands in a dilapidated state due to age and continuous exposure to the elements. With the kataaksham of our Poorvacharyas and Alwars, endeavors are being made to repair this sannidhi and bring it back to its original state. This can serve as a place for regular thadiyaradhane, Veda/Divya Prabandham Adhyayanam and religious activities during Vairamudi and other important temple utsavams in the future. Future generations of Srivaishnavas may not look at us kindly if these structures of great heritage are neglected. Scope and Estimate: Repair of roof, walls, gopuram, floor, prakaram and construction of compound walls: Rs. 5.4 lakhs ($ 11,000) This is an excellent opportunity to support kainkaryam at Sri Ramanuja's favorite place. It is a well-known fact that Odaiyavar Himself repaired and conducted the samprokshanam of this temple town 903 years ago. Although it is a challenge for us to follow Emberumaanaar's proposition of living in Tirunarayanapuram for even a short duration, this could be an excellent opportunity for performing divine kainkaryam there. A team of kainkarya mahanubhavas has been set up at Melkote (Sri Anand Alwar, Sri Rangaraja Bhattar and other enthusiastic bhaagawathas) to continuously supervise the potential project work. A team to keep up the continuous maintenance will also be set up in the future. This will be the second major repair project at Melkote in recent times and of course, there will be a lot more to do to restore the pristine glory of the structures. First Project successfully completed With Emberumaanaar's kataksham a similar project (repair of Tirumangai Mannan sannidhi) was undertaken and successfully completed in November 2001. The complete repair of this sannidhi resulted in a special Brahmotsavam during Tiru Karthikai in Karthikai maasam (Kaliyan tirunakshatram) with our Chelva Pillai's poruppaadu. The total project costs was Rs. 2.2 lakhs and was generously contributed by a few bhaagawathas. Let us all join hands in this kainkaryam and keep receiving the kataaksham of Emberumaanaar to continue Bhaagawatha/Bhagawad kainkaryam at HIS uganda arul nilayangal where ever we might be. Checks Payable to: Mailing Address 'Sri Ramanuja Sreesha Seva'.
