Guest guest
SRIMATHERAMANUJAYANAMHA APPANTHIRUVADIGALESARANAM , DEAR bAGHAVATHAS, Two doubts have ben raised in the posting of Sumitra Varadarajan dated 3rd may 2002. I am giving the informations as I have gathered. The Acharya parambarai of Srivaishnavism for all practical purposes commences from Sriman Natha Munigal. He was enticed by the renderings of few Pasurangals of Thiruvaimozhi and went in search of all. On meditating Sri Namalwar, he acquired the entire pasurangals and thus Nammalvar becomes the first of the Guruparamparai. Sri Alavandar in his "Stotrararatna" givesthisinformation."Adhya na kulapathe Vahulabhiramam' "Vahulabharanan ie., Nammalvar is the First of our Kulam and Treasure.Periya piratti etc., are Sampradhyic statements. Sri Manavala Mamunigal is the last of the great parambarai as no such person befitting the position of Acharya succeeded him. Ofcourse, learned persons falling in the line of 74 Simhasanathipathis are doingSamasrayanamforustobecomeSrivaishnavas.. 2. The entire essence of Vdantham (Vedas) are contained in the "Rahasya Tryam" and our Poorvacharys establish this fact in their commentaries to Baghavat Vishyam and other Alwar Pasurangals. It is true there are great persons who have rendered yeoman service to Srivaishnavism ; but, they do not fall in direct line of Acharya Parambarai. Informations of these persons can be had in the 'PERIYA THIRMUDIADAIVU' appended to the Araayirappadi Guruparampara Prabhavam. Also, Sri Puttur Sri Vaishnava Sudarsana swamy has published a book ACHARYA VAIBHAVA MANJERI (2 Vols.) containing informations on this point to the extent possible. Both thes books can be had from him.
