Guest guest
This saturday May 25th , in addition to nammALwAr tirunakshatram and Nrusimha Jayanthi, is tirunakshatram of Swami tiruvoimozhi Pillai. It would be great if learned members can post for each of these occasions... Also if someone can compile all the individual AlwAr pashurams dedicated to Lord Narasimha it would be really very helpful... Humble regards.. rAmAnuja dAsi LAUNCH - Your Music Experience

Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Dear Sri venkatesh, You have missed out THIRUVALLIKENI in your list. Thirumangai alwar( Periya thirumozhi 2-3-8) does mangalasaasanam to Sri Azhagiya singar in thiruvallikeni(Moolavar:yoga narasimhar). "palliyil Odhi vandadhan siruvan vAyil OrAyira nAmam olliyavAgippodha Angadhanukku ondrumOr poruppilanAgi pillaiyaiseerivegundu thoonpudaippa piraiyeyettru anal vizhippeyvAi TelliyaSinga mAgiya thevai ThiruvallikEni kandene" This is an excellent paasuram which gives crux of whole of the NarasimhAvatAram in just a single paasuram. And ofcourse the beauty of Telliya singar cannot be explained by words and that is why is also called Azhagiya singar. Guest guest
SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYANAMAHA APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM. Dear Devotees, Accept my pranams. Smt Sheela Belur has given a call for postings by the learned people, on Nammazhvar,Thiruvaimozhippillai and Narasimha jayanthi. Adiyen cannot consider myself as such one. Still Adiyen venture to do this act; because, myself belong to Srivaishnava community. The actions of devotees are explained as" MATHGATHACHITTHAHA, MATHGADHAPRANAH BODHAYANTHI PARASPARAM; THUSHYANTHI RAMANTHI CHA.' in Baghavat Gita.Adiyars cannot remain silent on learning something about him. They share their pleasures among themselves whenever they have learnt something about HIM . Perhaps, you might have heard about this earlier; still, to know about HIM again and again is a pleasure. Generally, on these occassions, the life history of saints will be given. Adiyen request your permission to deviate from this practice and share my musings with you. Of course, this will be in accordance with 'MUNNOR MOZHINTHA MURAITHAPPAME'. If any mistake is committed by Adiyen it may be forgiven and Adiyen may be corrected. Vaikasi Visakam is a great day for Srivaishnavas. Two great persons born with this Nakshatram and in that month have glorified Srivaishnavism with their services.First, NAMMAZHVAR;the other one is THIRUVAIMOZHIPPILLAI. As Alavander describes,NAMMAZHVAR is the "KULAPATHI of our line., Srivaishnavam. EMPERUMAN has used him for correcting the jeevathmas. He made him to render THIRUVAIMOZHI and other Pasurangal. It is not Nammazhvar's work; but, Emperuman dominated Nammazhvar and made him to do this YANOTTI ENNUL IRUTTHTHUVAMENRILAN THANOTTIVANTHU EN THANI NENCHAI VANCHITHU OONOTTININRU ENNUYIRIL KALANTHU'..Thiruvaimozhi.1.7.7. 'ENRAIKKUM ENNAI UYYAKKONDU POKHIYA ANREKKEN RENNAI THANNAKKI ENNAL THANNAI INTAMIZH PADIYA EESANAI AADHIYAI NINRA CHOTHIYAI..'(Thiruvaimozhi 7.0.1) In other words, Emperuman did the same thing as he did when he taught VEDAS TO Brhma. Sriman Nathamunigal was attracted by the Pasurangals of Nammazhvar and wished to propagate it along with Vedas. He, by his yogic fore sight visualised the avathar of Sri Ramanuja. He got one idol of Sri Ramanujacharya made, (BHAVISHYATHACHARYA VIGHRAHAM) and entrusted it to his deciple and also arranged for the propagation of Srivaishnavism. Sri Alavandar identified Sri. Ramanuja; but, he too could not meet him in person. He entrusted the task to his five famous diciples. Sri Ramanuja learnt Thirumantram from Thirukoshtiyur Nambi after greart effort on one condition...that he should not disclose it to any body. But, Sri Ramanuja, because of his overwhelming kindness towards humanity preached to those who were desirous of hearing him. Sri Ramanuja's reply to Thirukoshtiyur Nambi was -All will reach Paramapadam and it does not matter if he goes to hell. Sri Ramanuja accomplished the task entrusted to him. He won over all his other religeous opponents, He arranged for the commentary on Thiruvaimozhi through Thiukurugai piran pillan.( AARAAYIRAPPDI). This is an important one. If stress is made on vedic practices alone, very few people will have the oppurtunity to get releasd from samsara. Majority of the people will have no recourse for salvation, as the vedas are not accessable to them. Whereas Thirumantram, the essence of all vedas can be taught to female and sudras also. Many became the disciple of Ramanuja. HIs successors, Sri Bhattar, Sri Nanjeyar, Sri Nampillai, sri Periyavachhan pillai,Sri Vadakku thiruveethip pillai followed this path. They were versatile scholars in sanskrit and tamil; yet decided to dewell on Baghavat Vishayam ( commentary of Thiruvaimozhi). This position continued up to Pillai lokacharyiar period. During his period the muslim invasion of south India took place. NAMPERUMAL had to go out of Srirangam and wandered southwards. NAMMAZHVAR at Alwarthirunagari also had to go out of his place. Both of them met at THIRKKANAMBI, A SMALL VILLAGE IN MYSORE STATE. During this period Thiruvaimozhip pillai was in the service of Pandyan kingdom. Pillai Lokacharyar, who went with Namperumal, attained paramapadamd at Jouthishkudi. Thiruvaimozhi pillai's mentor was Koora kulothama dasa. Alwarthirunagari (Thirukurugur) was covered with forest after the muslim invasion. This was set right by Thiruvaimozhi pillai and he brought Namazhvar from Thirukkanambi. He also constructed a temple for Sri Ramanuja and installed the BHAVISHYATHACHARYA VIGRAHAM) in it. This place is known Ramanuja chathur vedhi mangalam. His Disciple is Sri Manavala mamunigal. He advised Sri Manavalamamunigal to dewell in spending his time in Baghavat vishyam. After a lapse more than 40 years, Namperumal was brought home from Thirumalai and sri Manavalamamunigal conducted a kalakshebam on Bagahvat Vishayam( EEdu 36000) at Periykoil. This discourse lasted for a year and Namperumal after cancelling all utsavams attended this Kalakshebam daily. Vaishnavism is old and is in vogue and time immorial; but Srivaishnavism has it roots in Nammazhvar pasurangal. Azhvar pasurangal was lost some time for the world. sriman Nathamunigal collected them and made arrangement for its propagation. Poorvacharyas made commentaries on it explaining on the basis of Rahasyatrya. Rahasyatraya is the essence of Vedas. This Dravida vedhantham is accessable to all. Again, it was dormant due to Muslim invasion. It was Thiruvaimozhipillai who instigated his deciple Sri Manavalamamunigal to propagate it. Thus two great men born on Visakam of Vaikasi spent their life for the salvation of Jeevathmas. Manavalamamunigal's UPADESRATNA MALAI pasuram 15 is "UNDO VAIKASI VISAKATHUKOPPORU NAL UNDO SATAGOPARKOPPORUVAR ? UNDO THIRUVAIMOZHIKOPPU THEN KURGAIKKUNDO OROPAR THANILOKKUMOOR.' For prapannas who always enjoy the grace of Emperuman and live in HIS GLORY, FOR HIS GLORY, OF HIS GLORY VIKASI VISAKAM IS A GREAT DAY. Let us celeberate it and enjoy.
