Vaikasi thiruvizha will start from 16th May in

Alwarthirunagari.This is one of the major festival in every srivaishnavan

life. Our first acharayan in kaliyuga and all 10 alwars are considered as

each parts of Swamy Namalwar thirumeni and Swamy Udiyavar as Thiruvadi in

Alwarthirunagari.

 

In eighth festival Swamy Namalwar is showing " Thavazhntha

Krishnan" thirukolom to his father and mother in their sannidhi in Appan

koil which is 2 Km away from Alwarthirunagari and also other side of

Tambarabarani river.

 

In Ninth Festival we can have a darshan of Swamy Namalwar in

Thangaratham which is sponsored by Sri. vanamamalai mutt and also Gold hamsa

vahanam sponsored by Sri. Vanamamalai mutt.

 

In fifth festival we can have a darshan of all navathirupathi

emperumans in Alwarthirunagari.This is really very beautiful. Every

srivaishnavan should visit Alwarthirunagari and have darshan of all 10

festival of Swamy Namalwar.We will see in details about 5th festival.

 

Navathirupathi:

 

Namalwar's father karimaran from Alwarthirunagari and mother from

Thiruvanparisaram(Kerala).Hence Swamy Namamalwar mangalasasanam to

Divyadesam near his father birth place is Eight and to divyadesam near to

his mother birth place is twelve(12).

 

Eight Divyadesam but nine temples are so called Navathirupathi ( Near

Alwarthirunagari). In nine temples,there is no Namalwar archavigragam

because yearly once in fifth festival all navathirupathi emperumans are

showing darshan to Swamy personally. During important festival in

all nine temples, respective divyadesa perumal prasadam ( Pushpam) is

offering to our Satakopan in Alwarthirunagari. Still this practice is

following in all nine temples.

 

1. Srivaikuntam

2. Varagunamangai

3.Thirupuliyangkudi

4.Tholaivillimangalam(Irattai thirupathi,two temple)

5.Perungulam

6.Thenthiruperai

7.Thirukolur

8.Alwarthirunagari.

 

First five divyadesams are situated at north bank of tambarabarani river and

last three divadesams are situated at south bank of river.

 

1.Alwar made magalasasanam to Srivaikuntam, Varagunamangai and

Thirupuliyangkudi perumals in 10 Pasurams(9.2.4)

2. Magalasasanam to Tholaivillimangalam perumals( Sri.Devapiran and

Sri.Aravindalochanar) in 10 Pasurams.(6.5)

3.Mangalasasanam to Perungkulam perumal( Sri. Mayakoothan) in Two

pasuram.(8.2.1 & 8.2.4)

4.Mangalasasanam to Thenthiruperai perumal in 10 Pasurams(7.3)

6 Magalasasanam To Thirukolur perumal in 10 Pasurams (6.7 )

7.Mangalasasanam to Alawrthirunagari perumal in 10 Pasurams(4.10)

 

 

one day before(4th festival evening), all nine

temples garuda vahanam will reach Alwarthirunagari.

 

In 5th festival morning Varagunamangai and

Thirupuliyungudi perumal will join with srivaikuntam perumal and will reach

Thirukurungudi madam in Alwarthirunagari.

 

Thirukolur perumal and Madhurakavi Alwar will reach

Nayakar manadapam in Alwarthirunagari.

 

Tholaivillimangalam Irattai perumal will reach

Nayakar Mandapam. Perungulam perumal will reach Thenthiruperai. Then

Thenthiruperai and perungulam perumal will reach separately Nayakar

Manadapam.

 

Three Perumal in Thirukurungudi Madam and Five perumal and madhurakavi

Alwar in Nayakar Mandapam. After reaching all perumal in

Alwarthirunagari,message will be sent to Alwar koil.

 

Alwar purappadu in Thangatholukinnam with full koil

mariyadai and Alwar will reach Pandal mandapam in front of Alwar KOil. Now

Alwar is ready to receive all perumal in pandal Mandapam. Arayar will sing

mangalasasana pasurams with thalam. while singing perumal pushpam and satari

will offer to Alwar.Alwar will do three times pradarsanam to perumal and

perumal will be sent to Alwar koil inside.

 

First Srivaikuntam Sri.Vaikuntapathy, Varagunamangai

Sri.Vijayasannar and Thirupuliyangudi Sri. Kaisinivandan will reach Pandal

Mandapam from Thirukurungudi Madam. Magalasasana Pasuram " Pulingudi Kidandu

Varagunamangai irundhu Vaikuntadul Ninru" Thiruvoimozhi Pasuram 9.2.4 will

be sung by Ariyar separately while offering three perumal prasadam to

Alwar.After pradarsanam individually to three perumal,THEY will be sent to

inside of the temple.

Second Tholaivillimangalam Irattai perumal Sri.Devapiran

and Sri.Aravindalochanar will reach pandal mandapam from Nayakar Mandapam.

Mangalasasana pasuram to Sri.Aravindalochanar "thirunthu vedamum VaLviyum"

6.5.8 will be sung by Ariyar while offering prasadam. Then Sri.Devapiran

Mangalasasana Pasuram" Sindaiyalaum Sollalum" 6.5.11 will be sung by Ariyar.

After pradarsanam individually,two perumal will be sent to koil inside.

 

Third Perungulam Sri.Mayakoothan will reach Pandal mandapam

from Nayakar mandapam. Mangalasasana Pasuram"koodasendren iniyen koduken"

8.2.4 will be sung by ariyar and perumal will be sent to koil inside after

Alwar Pradasarnam.

 

Fourth Thenthiruperai Sri.Maharanedungkuzaikathan will reach

pandal mandapam from Nayakar mandapam. mangalasasana Pasuram "Vellaisuri

sangu" 7.3.1 will be sung by Ariyar and perumal will be sent to koil inside

after Alwar pradasarnam.

 

Fifth Thirukolur Sri. Vaithamanithi and Sri. Madhurakavi Alwar

will reach pandal mandapam from Nayakar Mandapam. Sri Madhurakavi Alwar will

stand on the side.

Mangalasasana Pasuram " unnumsorum paruguneer"6.7.1 will be sung by Ariyar

and perumal only will be sent inside after Alwar pradasarnam.

 

Sixth Alwarthirunagari Sri.Polinduninrapiran pasuram"

Ilingathita puranathirum"4.10.5 will be sung by ariyar and prasadam will be

offered to Alwar.Here perumal will not be physically present in pandal

mandapam.

 

Last kanninun chiruthanbu pasuram will be sung by ariyar and Sri.

madhurakavi Alwar will receive all mariyadai from Alwar. Sri.

MadhurakaviAlwar will do three times pradasarnam to Namalwar.

 

After Veedipurappadu of Namalwar, all navathirupathi emperumans

and Alwar thirumanjanam will be carried out in different mandapam inside

Alwar koil.

 

In night all nine emperumans in garuda vahanam,Swamy Namalwar

in gold hamsavahanam and Swamy Madhurakavi Alwar in Paranginaarkali.

Namalwar and Madhurakavi Alwar will stand outside,one by one all emperuman

will come outside.

1. Alwarthirunagari Sri.Polinduninrapiran

2. Namalwar

3. Srivaikuntam Sri.Vaikuntapathy.

4.Varagunamangai Sri.Vijayasanar

5.Thirupuliyungudi Sri.Kaisinivendan

6.Tholaivillimangalam Sri.Aravindalochanar

7.Tholaivillimangalam Sri.Devapiran

8.Thirukulandhai(Perungulam)Sri.Mayakoothan

9.Thenthiruperai Sri. Mahanedungkuzhaikathan

10.Thirukolur Sri.vaithamanidhi

11.MadhurakaviAlwar.

 

Next day 6th festival morning again magalasasanam

( Sentoff) at pandal mandapam to all emperumans in the sameway as described

as above while receiving. But here first mangalasasanam to Perungulam

Perumal Sri.Mayakoothan because Perungulam is around 12 Km away from

Alwarthirunagari.

 

After mangalasasanam Namalwar purappadu to Swamy Sannidhi

inside the temple from pandal Mandapam with full koil mariyadai. It will

take more than 2 to 2 1/2 hours. This sevai is very beautiful.Evening all

navathiruppathi garuda vahanam will return to respective divyadesam.

 

Adiyen explained about fifth festival of Swamy Namalwar

with my limited knowledge. But sure mangalasasanam( Receiving and Sentoff),

Vahanasevai at main enterance, Namalwar purappadu to his sannidhi from

Pandal mandapam are beyond our words.
