Guest guest
lOkAchArya gurave krishna pAdasya soonavE samsAra bhOgi sandaShta jeeva jeevAtavE nama: Just like 'avatArikai' is an important aspect of a grantha kAlakshEpam, equally important is knowing the greatness of the vyAkhyAnakarta who, in this case, is none other than the viShadavAk shikhAmaNi Swami ManavALa mAmunigaL. Since we are all aware of the basic aspects of the life history of this mahAn, only some salient aspects only will be mentioned here... It is really an irony, just like the fact that the redeemer of our jail called 'samsAra', Kannan was himself born in a 'jail', the year of birth of Swami mAmuni is called 'sAdhAraNa varSha'. It should actually be called the 'asAdhAraNa varsha' because of his birth in that year in 'Aipashi moolam' . The greatness of this is mentioned by Sri dEvarAja guru in 'uttara dinachararya' as yanmoolam AshvayujamAsyavatAramoolam kAntrOpayantra yAmina: karunaikasindhO: AsIdatou gaNitasya mamApi sattA moolam tadEva jagadabhudayaikamoolam Another amazing coincidence is that the day the taniyan "shrIshailESha dayApAtram' was given out was also a moolam - ANi moolam - by none other than the aLagiya manavAlan, ranga prabhu, after having enjoyed listening to Swami maNavAla mAmuni's year long bhagavad viShaya kAlakshEpam by halting all utsavams in Srirangam inspite of the fact that Srirangam is THE divya dEsam known for utsavams. This clearly shows that the title 'viShadavAk shikhAmaNi' is apt for Swami maNavAla mAmuni. Just like vEda pArAyaNas always start with praNavam, divya prabhandha sEvAkAlam start with this taniyan.Such is the vaibhavam of Swami. The greatness of vyAkhyAnams is that they do not delve into unnecessary material - this applies most to the vyAkhyAnams of Swami. Just like bhagavad rAmAnujar, right in the beginning of Sri Bhashyam, says that he will describe exactly what is in the original text, Swami manavALa mAmuni , the aparAvatAra of bhagavad rAmAnuja, also always explains only what is in the original text. Among other reasons, attraction to the oratory skillsof his kAlakshEpam resulted in a host of desciples for Swami manavALa mAmuni . He chose eight among them as 'ashTadiggajAs' . They were vAnamAmalai (ponnaDikkAl) Jeeyar, pattarpirAn Jeeyar, tiruvEngaDa rAmAnuja Jeeyar, koil kandAde annan, prativAdi bhayankara annan, erumbiappa(dEvarAja guru), appillai and appillAr. Of these the first three were yatIs and the other five for gRuhasthAs. One of the attributes of Swami was that he was the personification of 'sAtvikam' and totally devoid of pride/jealousy etc which he himself expresses in his Arti prabhandham as "piRarminukkampoRaamaiyillaapperumaiyum peRROmE". Saying pallanDu pallanDu to such a great mahAn who wrote the vyAkhyAnams for mumuShuppadi, next we will delve into mumukShuppadi vyAkhyAnams... pillai lOkAchAryan tiruvaDigalE saranam Jeeeyar tiruvadigalE saranam AcAryan tiruvadigalE saranam. rAmAnuja dAsi Autos - Get free new car price quotes
