Srimathe Ramanujaya namaha

Sri Vara Vara munaye Namaha

Then Nadhamunigal started his journey towards Veeranarayana puram. On the way

back he did mangalAsAsanams to Emperumans of various divya desams, with the

various pAsurams of Azhwars. He then reached Veeranarayanapuram and reported

the incidents of how Nammazhvar blessed him with the nAlAyira divya prabandam.

Then as per the wish of Mannanar, Nadhamunigal recited in front of mannanar, the

whole 4000 verses .

Due to the great kArunyam towards the Jeevathmas who suffer in this samsAra

sAgaram, Emperuman, as an opportunity for their liberation, created this world

and gave them various kainkaryams, so that they can be relieved from this

infinite cycle of birth and death and they can ultimately attain his lotus

feet. Not satisfied with this, he then gave them various shastras and took

various avatArAs for the upliftment of the people. Still being unsatisfied, he

gave to world, the Alwars and made them sing 4000 verses of Divya prabandam.

But this also yielded only partial results. Hence, he now decided to spread the

glory of prabandams through Nadhamunigal and ordered him through the archaka to

compose them in a form, which can be sung with music. After this Nadhamunigal

called his nephews Keezhaiyegathaazhwan and Melaiyegathaazhwan and told them

that he was going to convert the divine pAsurams into a form, which can be

rendered with music. “En kavi Padum paramakavigal Aruliyadhu”, “SenchollAl

eduttu deivananmAlai”. Since these pAsurams that were given by great divine

poets, were highly devotional in nature, he decided that they should be sung in

Divya nAdham in similar lines to Vedas, which were compiled and recited in

udaththa, Anuthatha swaras by sage Veda Vyasa.

During the same period, in the kingdom of Gangaikondacholapuram, there lived two

ladies who were experts in dEva gaanam and Manusha gaanam respectively. They,

one day decided to have a contest in front of the King and the other learned

seers of his kingdom. In the contest, the King and the other Judges gave their

judgment in favor of Manusha gaanam and gifted that lady with necklaces and

garlands. Being vexed with the judgment, the other lady, who was well versed

in dEva gaanam, came to a conclusion that, only Gods and Goddesses can

recognize her talent and hence started exhibiting her musical capabilities in

various temples.

When she came to Kattumannar koil and sang in front of Mannanar, Sriman

Nadhamunigal who was highly impressed by her song praised her and bestowed her

with Theertha prasadam and Thirupariyattam of Emperuman. She, being overjoyed

by receiving these honors, immediately went to the king’s palace and declared

that there was at last one person who could understand and appreciate her

talent. The King asked her, who he was and she replied that it is none other

than Sriman Nadhamunigal in Veeranarayanapuram - Mannanar temple. The king

then, invited Nadhamunigal to his court and bestowed him with all the royal

honors. He asked Nadhmunigal, whether he knew about dEva gaanam. Sriman

Nadhamunigal who had actually composed the verses of Thiruvaimozhi in Deva

gaanam, wanted to prove the greatness of it. Hence, he listened to both

Manushya gaanam and dEva gaanam and declared that “Oh! Rajan, you can

understand only this Manushya gaanam, but the other one can be enjoyed by Devas

and not by you. The Raja immediately asked, “How do we accept that you know

dEva Gaanam?” To prove his point, he requested for 4000 different thAlAs to be

played in front of him and just by hearing the same; Nadhamungal identified the

weight of each and every thAlA with pinpoint accuracy. The King ordered for a

verification of this and was astonished to find that there was no variation in

the weights to what sriman Nadhamunigal has expressed. The Raja immediately

fell in the feet of sriman Nadhamunigal and submitted him a lot of wealth. But

Nadhamunigal, who cared neither for these worldly pleasures nor for the Indra

or Brahma pattam, refused to take part with any of them. He then blessed the

king and returned back to Veeranarayanapuram to continue his kainkaryam to

Mannanar.
