APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM 3

 

 

Dear Baghavathas, Accept my pranam. This is in continuation of earlier

posting.

 

 

The reasons for his Avathar are:

(1) To protect Sadhus

(2) To destroy evil doers

(3) To reinforce righteousness

 

He decides to take avathar at any time irrespective of any time limit.

Sadhus can be classified into three categories.

(1) Those who worship lesser deities than Emperuman such as Siva, Indra etc.,

according Veda Dharma.

(2) Those who worship Emperuman and at the same time follow Pradharsana Vidhya

etc., wherein Emperuman is Antharyamin ( the ultimate deity) through the smaller

deities

(3) Those who worship Emperuman alone and they are vaishnavites only directly

dependentant on Emperuman only

 

The first set of worshipers do not require the Avathar of Emperuman.

The second set of worshipers too, though they may be vaishnavites,do not need

the Avathar of Emperuman as their requirement can be met through the smaller

deities in whom Emperuman is represented as Antharyamin.

 

The last set of worshipers are solely dependent on Emperuman only. Emperuman is

everything for them. They are Prapannas and require Avathar of Emperuman.

 

‘ VARNASRAMACHARAVATHA PURUSHENA PARA: PUMAN

VISHNURARADHYATHE PANTHA NANYAS THATHTHOSHAKARAKA:

( Vishnu Puranam3.8.9) ( Emperuman Vishnu is being worshiped by those persons

who follow varnasrama dharma.)

 

Many references are available in Arulicheyal describing such Vaishnavas.

Thiruvaimozhi 5.10. , the entire ten describes the state of affairs of these

kind of vaishnavas

These kind of worshipers enjoy the Avathar of Emperuman. Emperuman also take

Avathar for such kind of devotees. Only Emperuman can meet their desires ONLY.

They want to mingle with Him in the current birth.

Emperuman only can remove the obstacles that stand in the way . That too will be

possible if he takes Avathar only.

He appeared in person to redeem the distress of Gajendrazhvan from the clutches

of crocodile. Otherwise he would have been blamed for not carrying out the

wishes of His ardent devotees.

Yasodha and Gopis in Krishnavathar fall in this category.

The protection of Sadhus by granting their wish of appearance in person is one

of the reasons for Avathar.

Another one; to destroy the evil doers to sadhus.

Consider the cases of Ramavathar and Narasimhavathar.

Ravana, Hiranya and similar Asuras under went many hard and very difficult

penances. They obtained boons from Brahma and Sivan and grew haughty. They

became invincible by Devas. Even Brahma and Sivan became helpless since they

have given the boons. The Asuras did all kind of cruelties to the sadhus. Sriman

Narayanan only could solve their problems. He found loopholes in their boons and

took Avathars to destroy them and to protect the sadhus.

While destroying the Asuras also he was considerate. He was prepared to excuse

Ravana if he surrendered.

He showed compassion towards Ravana when he became armless, permitted him to go

home and to return to fight on the next day.

 

‘ MANNIN BARAM NEEKUVATHARKE VADAMATHURAI PIRANTHAN”(TVM 9.1.10)

 

‘ EASWARAN AVATHARITHU PANNINA AANAI THOZHILKALLEAM BHAGAVATHAPACHARAM

PORAMAI ENRU JEEYAR ARULICHEYVAR

(Srivachana Booshanam)

 

For this purposes also He had to take Avathars.

 

ANOTHER CAUSE FOR AVATHAR…DHARMA SAMSTHABHANAM.

This He can do by giving special powers to Mahans like Vyasa etc.,

But, Samsthabhanam means,” establish well on a sound basis Dharma”. That is His

Bhakatas (Sadhus) should do Aaradhanas to his Divya Mangala Vigraham. This will

be possible if he takes Avathar only.

 

‘VIJAYATHE’’ ( Purusha suktam.) (Born Specially) How? By taking Avathar.

 

‘” SA U SREYAN BHAVATHI JAYAMANAHA;”(By birth after Birth He becomes Glorious.)

Yes. We, bhaktas worship his Divya mangala Vigraham of each Avathar according to

their tastes.

 

‘ NILA VARAMBILA PALA PIRAPPAI OLI VARUM MUZHU NALAM”

(TVM 1.3.2)

 

The three reasons mentioned at the out set become valid only if he takes

Avathar.

There is ample opportunity for destruction of evil doers is here in this world

only.

The protection of sadhus and reinforcement of Dharma here is essential.
