dear devotees,

The following is an update on the divya dEsam

kainkaryam for thiru-k-kUdalUr. I had the fortune of

being there last saturday - 3rd August to co-ordinate

things.

1. Disbursement of the monthly salary for the archaka

and the watchman was done (Rs. 2500: 2000 and 500)

2. Reimbursement of the money spent by the archaka

(per our request) to clean up the well and buy new

rope for the well - Rs. 300

3. Provision of 10 liters of oil for the temple - cost

of Rs. 512

3. I visited the temple, without notice around 11:00

in the morning. The temple has undergone a significant

change and seems more well maintained now. The archaka

had, with the help of 3 villagers cleaned the inside

of the temple with water for the prasadam distribution

that evening. He said that he does it every saturday

now.

4. The local people said that around 50/60 people come

to receive prasadam every saturday evening!

5. The well had been cleaned up very nicely - The

water is now very clear.

6. perumAL, atleast to me, looked radiant and

smiling.. The sannadhi was maintained very neatly.

7. The outside prakaram has been cleaned a bit, but

more work needs to be done on it and the inside

prakaram as well. They promised to do it in this week

and next.

8. The archaka was quite happy - he said that a tour

group had come the previous week and had volunteered

to provide a pearl crown to the utsava mUrthy in the

temple.

9. I took pictures of the temple walls and the

vimAnam. So many shrubs/plants are growing on them,

and there is an *immediate* need to take them out.

Otherwise there is a danger of further damage to the

already damaged portions.

10. Also, I agreed to focus on seeing what we can do

with the flooring.. There are many holes that we would

like to cover with cement - atleast temporarily before

any major effort is taken.

Last week, there had been a discussion on sv-general

about divyadEsams and some people contacted me

regarding the efforts of the rAmAnuja/vEdics

volunteers. They had great ideas and want to

participate also. In the next couple of days, we will

be emailing to sv-general about this in conjuction

with those who contacted us.

In summary, the following imrpovements have happened

at

thiru-k-kUdalUr in the past few months:

1. a set of vessels for thiruArAdhanam and prasAdam

cooking and distribution

2. a nice bench for thirumanjanam

3. multiple sets of vasthrams for perumAL and thAyAr

4. a devotee has promised the archaka to get a pearl

crown for the utsava moorthy

5. additional prasadam distribution on fridays in this

month

6. cleaning up of the well

7. funding to buy material required to clean up the

weeds and stray plants all over the temple (outside

prAkAram has been cleaned now,.,. inside needs to be

cleaned)

8. 2 very beautiful lamps that are lit daily

9. oil for the lamps whenever devotees visit so far.

10.committment by a devotee to help with the

electricity repairs in the temple.

On behalf of the rAmAnuja/vEdics volunteers, I thank

all of you for your help/support in making the above

happen. This weekend, I will be going to thirunAngUr

and will provide a report after I come back.

on behalf of the rAmAnuja/vEdics volunteers,

adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan,

varadhan
