Dear Bahavathas, Accept my pranam. This is in continuation of earlier posting.

 

AVATHARA RAHASYAM (7) ARCHAVATHARAM

 

The knowledge on Avathara rahasyam removes the obstacles and completes the

Bhakti in the case of Bhakti Nishtan. How? The Bhakta will be free from desire,

fear and anger.

Desire in sensual pleasures will be an obstacle to enjoy divine acts of

Emperuman

Undesirable sensual pleasure may cross the path. Fear on account of these

points. Anger towards persons who will stand in the way of the enjoyments or

anger towards those who make them to undergo unwanted experiences, Once they are

engrossed in Bhakti towards Emperuman all these evils go away. ‘MARPAL MANAM

CHUZHIPPA MANGAYAR THOL KAIVITTU’ ( Moonram Thiruvanthathi 14)

Prahladhan always enjoyed the company of emperuman by his thoughts unmindful of

the hardships met to his body. Those who understood the Avathara rahasya

attained qualities as of mine and attained Moksha.

 

Sloka 11. Explains the qualities such as ‘Soulabyam etc., of Emperuman.

I am attainable to my devotees in the form etc., as they desire. All human

beings enjoy me, as they desire. This is understandable so far Yogis and Bhakthi

Nishtas are concerned. They follow certain practices. What about other people,

say women folk and others who cannot practice Bhakti yoga and for those also who

are eligible for Bhakti yoga; but are not able to do so for one reason or other.

Yes. This is possible in archavathara. Let us recall Sutra.43 to 40 of

Srivachana Bhooshanam ( mentioned in section 5. Under prapannas of earlier

posting) Emperuman has been enjoyed by Azhvars in all fashions.

Namazhvar has explained in TVM 3.8. the various experiences of our parts while

enjoying Emperuman. Nammazhvar has exhibited the experiences, himself as a lady

deeply in love with the Lord. Periyazhvar has sought for the protection of the

Lord for many thousands of years. Sri Vasudeva, Dasaradha Yasodha and Sri.

Nanda have enjoyed the Lord as their sons.Pandavas have treated Sri. Krishna as

friend and messenger. Such is the ‘Soulabyam’ of Emperuman.It was during Avathar

period for Sri Nanda, Yasodha, Dhasaratha and Sri. Vasudeva.

What about Azhavars? They adopted the forms various Avathars in Archaroopam and

enjoyed the qualities and deeds of Emperuman. We commoners also have the

opportunity of worshipping Him in Archaroopam in temples and houses.

EVVANNAM CHINTHITHU IMAIAYATHIRUPARE

AVVANNAM AAZHIYAN AAM’ (Mudhal Thiruvanthathi.44)

Poykai Azhvar describes the form qualities etc, of Emperuman. It is the same as

desired by his devotees

THANJAMAKIA THANTHAI THAYODU THANUMAI AVAI ALLANUMAYEE

ENJALIL AMARAR KULAMUDAL MOOVARTHAMMULLUM AATHIYAI

ANJI NEER ULAKATHULLERKAL AVAN IVAN ENRU KOOZHENMIN

NENJINAL NINAIPPAN YAVAN AVANKUM NEEL KADAL VANNANE.

(tvm.3-6-9.)

Nammazhvar has said the same thing as in this Geetha Sloka.

“ULAKATHULLEER’ Those who are in the world =THAMAR’= “YE”

Do not get confused as to who is the FIRST OF ALL DEITIES .He is the protector

of all, Neel Kadal Vannan, He is the father, He is the mother and all. He is to

be worshiped and remembered in mind always.

Nampillai has written commentary to Eedu and Periyavachan Pillai to Mudal

Thiruvanthathi. They are in Manipravalam and are excellent. They are lengthy

Adiyen am giving a gist of them.

Mudal Thiruvanthathi. “All my devotees are dear to me. They worship me, as they

know. I accept them as they are. If they hold any material as my representative

as my figure I accept it as they wish. If some body name it as “sathangai

yazhakiyar” I accept it as such I like it more than other names such as

Narayana etc., I fulfill their wishes as such.

Eedu;: He is our relative in all respects. Do not doubt whether we will be able

to get such a great one. He accepts the devotees’ choice as his body whatever

material it may be. We also worship that image because He likes it In short

Emperuman likes whatever his devotee wishes his God to be..

There is an anecdote in this respect. The name of Nanjeeyar’s idol for worship

is ‘AYAR THEVU’. He appeared in the dream of Engalazhvan and asked from him

Butter and “Naval Pazham. ” Engalazhvan asked the deity his identity as who he

was. He answered his name as ‘AYAR DEVU’. This name is very dear to Nanjeeyar.

Engalazhvan reported this matter to his Acharya Nanjeeyar. The message contained

in this information is Emperuman loves his devotees very much and also

establishes his identity by asking the appropriate fruit liked by that deity.

 

One doubt arises here. Emperuman took Avathars in earlier Yugas for protection

of Sadhus, destruction of evil doers and for the reinforcement of righteousness.

Now, in Kali yuga it is stated that he will take Avathar as KALKI. In this

context how archavathar will fit in?

It is true that He has to take Avathar as KALKI. Kali yuga has just started

only. It has a long way to go. It is stated that Dharma in Kali yuga will

suffer very much and deteriorate to worst situation as it advances. Already we

are experiencing its influences We may expect the Avathar to happen( even though

we may not live up to that time let us believe so.)

 

Another aspect also we may consider. To get the result of a good deed in KRUTHA

YUGA one has to do very difficult concentrated Dhyana. Even then it may take 10

years to get the result. In THRETHA YUGA one has to do difficult yagas under so

many conditions. Here also it may take one year to get the results. In DHVAPARA

YUGA one has to do Archanas to Emperuman and has to wait atleast one month. But

in KALI YUGA the result will be in one day. We may wonder how far this is

correct.

Emperumanar’s Bhashyam for this sloka says “ Why should it be elaborated ! All

people and their thoughts are on me and my thoughts follow them. They enjoy my

qualities and deeds. They enjoy with their senses such experiences which are

not attainable by great Yogis.

We worship Emperuman in archavathar according to our taste. It may be Lord

Venkatachalapathy, Lord Rangantha , Lord Parthasarathy Or Lord Varadharaja or

any other form according to our taste. We participate in utsavams etc sincerely.

Does it not give pleasure to us? We believe He will protect us, Yes He will do

so long we go in the correct way. We worship our Dear deities at home also. We

have started to know about Him. All these kind of activities will promote our

spiritual welfare. Rest is with Emperuman He will look after welfare. Nama

sankeerthanam is said to be the best way in Kali yuga and this is possible for

all.

 

We have come to the last portion of this subject. We can now understand the

connection between the Avathara Rahasyam and Archavatharam. We should be happy

that all irrespective of caste and gender enjoy the Grace of Emperuman. We

require the mind only for that. Unfortunately many temples sung by Azhvars are

in neglected position. The modern way of life may be one of the reasons. Those

who have a mind to do service to solve this situation should ponder over this

problem. Any way, there should be no difficulty to worship Emperuman at home.

Let us not forget and forsake this also.
