SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA.

Dear Sri Vishnu and other bhagavathas,

Pranams,

Let me add some info to the following views from Sri

Vishnu

> One may question why one should skip sandhyA to

> attend temple service?

> By going to temple, whatever service we do, like

> chanting prabandham,

> or cleaning the temple, doing thirumanjanam for the

> images of

> Perumal, all are BhAgavat kainkaryams ONLY. Bhagavan

> does not need a

> single kainkaryam from us for He is avApta samasta

> kAman. By chanting

> prabanadham, we are prserving it. Also people

> present will get

> attracted by the ideas of Alwars. Also the people

> reciting are

> serving each other by enjoying His qualities

> together (I sing nicely,

> you enjoy it, I enjoy your singing nicely - that

> must be the spirit).

>

> By doing thirumanjanam, the images are maitained

> well for a long

> period and this will attract people by making them

> feel His presence.

> Best example of Bhagavta kainkaryam is

> chAmarOpachAram during

> purappAdu. Why should we do this fan service?

> Definitely not for Him

> nor for His parivAra dEvatAs (Consorts, Alwars etc.)

> but only for the

> comfort of His adiyAr bearing the pallanquin or some

> other vAhanam.

>

> The only selfish motive behind going to temple can

> be getting some

> mental peace. For that we can offer prayer to His

> picture or vigraham

> or sAlagrAma moorti at our house itself. So by going

> to temple, we

> are getting the additional privelege of being

> serviceable to others,

> which is the real qualification of a SV.

I request the members not to treat the following

information as blashphemy or something of an

apacharam.

A research was conducted by the students of

Parashakthi college of Courtralam around 1979-80, to

ascertain what happens inside a temple. The findings

were put-up for public view in the annual trade fair

at Island grounds in Madras in the year 1981 (or 1980,

I am unable to recall exactly)The findings were as

follows.

# There is in existence a kind of strong current /

circuit between the Moolavar and the bali peetam.

#The moolavar seems to attract positive charges and

the bali peetam, negative charges.

# Any intrusion / crossing across in this circuit

around the middle upsets the circuit.

# In the temples (olden) where the size of the

garbhagruham and the subsequent praharas are designed

as per agamas (mostly these are small and look

cramped), the vibrations on account of chanting, and

hysterical nama chanting seem to strengthen the

circuit many-fold.

# The more cooler the garbhagruha, the better are the

results.

# Electric lamps increase the temperature inside the

garbhagruha.

# It was found that it is absolutely necessary to do

regular thirumanjanam, kappu (thailam, sandanam etc)

and maintain the place as moist and cool as possible.

# Oil lamps seem best suited and even continuous

karpoora haarathi seems to upset the balance.

(This group also analyzed the significance of Vaikunda

Ekadasi and it was found out that on this day the

earth is farthest away from the sun, that is, from the

center of our galaxy, milky way (In marghazhi sun

rises in Dhanur rasi which is center of our galaxy)

and is at its closest point to the outer space, that

is, the source from where our own galaxy has sprung.

Technically we are closer to the further roots, or in

other words to vaikundam on this day. The benefits of

upavaasam (pattini in ordinary parlance) on this day

due the placement of earth on this day in relation to

sun and the moon must have been known to members)

Now some inference from the above findings.

# One gets a peculiar feeling of calmness and serenity

upon visiting a temple, particularly the one which is

maintained as per agamas and where regular puja are

done, mainly due to the similar-to-magnetic properties

wielded on the person coming in proximity to the

circuit of the moolavar and the bali peetam. Inside a

temple you are supposed to wail (mentally or

otherwise)your 'kurai' and the vibrations from you are

instantly absorbed and you come out 'clean'.

How can we prove it?

1. By experience (we have to rid ourselves of even the

positive charges), for, like light and darkness being

present as two sides of the same coin, for every

positive charge, a negative charge also is formed. To

be free of any vibration / aspiration is the first

step towards atma-jnanam.

2.Certain pasurams are identified as Koil pasurams,

eg, the last ten of Thiruvaimozhi. If one recites this

at home, with all dedication and concentration on the

meaning, one is bound to sob, wail, shiver and lose

interest in living in course of time. The import of

the pasuram is such that. By recommending this and

other similar ones to be recited in the temple, all

these feelings are absorbed by the circuit and one

comes out more fresh and with a satisfaction in having

enjoyed the meaning too. (you can test this with all

the pasurams that are meant for reciting in temples

and those that have been recommended for nithya

anusandhanam at home)

It is for this reason, reading of Mahabharatha at home

is prohibited and the reading of Sundara khandam at

home is encouraged. It is all due to the fact that we

become what we think and feel and for mental peace

these commandments are made.

# Veettu vazhipadu (worship at home) has all the

portents of self-hypnosis and the pujas have to be

performed as per initiation that would have seen you

use the proper bhandan (safety) rituals so as to guard

you from the emanating vibrations from the puja. (you

can confirm this from any vaadhiyar who conducts

homams) So is true of shalgramam too.

# One reason for saying the above is the chronological

development of vazhipattu murai. Temples came into

existence more in numbers in the post-2nd century AD

only. Not many temples were in place in the earlier

yugams. vazhipaadu were in the nature of meditation,

homam and the like and there was not much need for

de-vibrating oneself at the place of visesha gruha of

the Lord (temple). The life and life style of people

were all god- oriented and people had some level of

abhyas at mind control and at denuding themselves of

mundane worries.

The steady deterioration in this status over a period

of time resulted in the need for more temples.

# The Lord appears in five forms and one of them is

the vigraha roopam. The Lord in all these

manifestations confers immense anugraham on His

created beings. At the vigraha level, the above

mentioned happens to be one among the many benefits he

confers.

# This can be said with conviction, for every roopam

of the lord has been so manifested as to grant

specific benefits. The agamas speak of Bhoo tattvam

(agni) for moorthies of Vinayaka etc, Bhuvar tattvam

(vaayu), for moorthies of shiva (nataraja moorthy is a

case in point here)etc and Suvar tattvanm (Adityan)

for Vishnu & co. Even among Vishnu & co, further

differences come in their making and design of

temples; each deity so designed as to be capable of

conferring select benefits. For example, it is

Ranganatha alone who can give you moksham -the reason

why Andal who gave 'soodi-k-koduththa malai'to

Vadabatra sayi, could ultimately join the Lord at

Srirangam only.

Kindly pardon me if I have hurt sentiments in having

written this mail.

Pranams,

jayasree sarnathan
